What is mandatory military service? Mandatory military service is where men and possibly women 18 or around that age are required to do a year or so in the service. Different countries militaries can be different. Some countries have volunteer military service and others have a mandatory military service. Morocco made it that they make men and women between 19 and 25 be required to serve a year in the service which is a mandatory service. In the US we have something called the selective service system (Drafting system) which by law, men 18 to 25 years of age have to sign up for in order to be called for mandatory service if we are in an emergency, and the U.S. would also be a volunteering military service country because people can choose this as their carrer or not. Having a mandatory military service might also help decrease crime rate by improving health, physical fitness, and young people's marketable skills.
I was intrested in this topic because there can be so many different opinions and sides. In my opinion, I think that mandatory military service is a great idea, and voluntary military service is also good. If we did have mandatory military service I think that would be great because it could teach people skills like robotics, self defense, medicine, and anything in the S.T.E.M field. Everyone doesn’t have to do this at the same time either it can be in an age range. Overall, I think that mandatory military service isn’t a bad idea because people can still get knowledge about different topics. I do also think that if people had some sort of self defense they would feel safer in more dangerous areas because they could defend themselves.
Do you think the U.S. should have a Mandatory Military Service?
What is your opinion on the Drafting system?

Good topic choice and your summary is well done. You could have commented more and on three different days as well.
I think that the drafting service should stay. It works very well. If you want to be in the military then you can go into the military. However you shouldn’t have to serve a year if you don’t want to unless there is an emergency. I also think the drafting works well because if they need you, you will have to go help. However if you aren’t needed, you can continue to work and go to school.
I agree with all you said about how you don't go to the military right away with the selective service system, but that doesn't mean you will be released early. You might be in the military for 5 years or however long this emergency goes on for.
Mabey and Mabey not becase what if we need troops one place but there on the other side of the world they cant be there right away so probaly not manditory so they could not make it manditory.
I understand your view on this topic. Many people will learn great new skills including, self defence, robotics, and medicine skills. Even with all those new skills learned I am not a fan of the military being required. I also understand the drafting system because it is needed in times of war.
I understand your point of thinking the military should not be required, but all these useful skills can be a long term skill in robotics and medicine. The draft system is good as well, but you would probably be in the military longer for a year if you get chosen.
I agree with this. Even if it can be productive since it makes people learn new useful skills, and that would be a big advantage, people shouldn't be forced to do it. It might almost be dangerous to make someone do something this serious and important against their will.
Absolutely not. I could probably write a whole essay on why this is bad, but I'll just give a list.
1) People who aren't motivated to serve will serve less efficiently.
2) Mandatory service deprives people of choice. It's a very un-democratic idea.
3) Many people in the military have a mental health condition requiring treatment including severe depression and PTSD.
4) Not everyone supports what the military is currently doing, and they shouldn't be forced to fight for something they don't support.
5) It is against our constitution as stated in our 13th Amendment.
I don’t think the US should have a mandatory military service. I say this because I think we should have the right to choose. We get to choose what to do and what career to go into. As part of our freedom we get to choose what we do. This would be going against this if we had to go into the military when we don’t want to.
In my opinion the United States shouldn't have a Mandatory Military Service, I think that people should be able to decide for themselves if it's something that they want to do or not, not everyone is made to do something like that. I honestly don't even really think that it's needed right now.
