Should the Government Stop the Dakota Access Pipeline? To answer that question you have to know what the Dakota access pipeline is. The Dakota access pipeline is supposed to be 1,168 miles long when finished. The pipeline starts in the Bakken oil fields in North Dakota and runs underground through North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Illinois. It also runs through farms, communities, and Native American reservations. Construction of the pipeline started back in 2016.
The pipeline has been running since June of 2017. It transports 570,000 barrels of oil per day. It is the safest way to transport crude oil to be processed. The pipeline also helps remove roughly 3,00 tanker trucks and 815 rail cars each day. The benefits of the pipeline include boosted economic growth, local economic growth, and provided 8,000-12,000 jobs while under construction. The pipeline also pays property taxes in all four states. From 2017-2020, the pipeline paid $113 million in property tax.
However people such as the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, don’t want the Dakota Access Pipeline. The tribe even went as far as going to federal court against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers because they violated the National Historic Preservation Act. The Corps moved the pipeline from Bismark, ND to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's reservation border without consulting with them. This caused protests worldwide.
I personally think that the pipeline shouldn't have been stopped, even though they broke a Preservation Act because of how much oil they transport. I also think that the Dakota Access Pipeline should not have been taken to court by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe because it was a waste of time in my opinion.
Do you think that the Dakota Access Pipeline should be stopped?
Do you think that the court case was necessary?

Good job overall Anthony! Be sure to comment back three different days.
I think that it is pointless to stop the pipeline because it was built for a reason and to not use it would be a waste. The pipeline made it easier to get oil from one place to another without having to use other types of transportation. I think that if the court case had happened while it was being built then it could have potentially had a solution.
I personally do not think that the pipeline should have been shut down. I think that the pipeline created an easy route to transport oil, and also many jobs for the repair of the pipeline. I also think the court case was unneeded and did not help anything.
I do not think that the pipe line should be stopped because it is not harming anyone or anything and it is a much safer and more reliable way to transfer crude oil from one place to another and if it was stopped the gas prices would go up even more wich would be bad.
I agree with you that the pipeline shouldn't be shut down because it's a much safer way to transport crude oil across the US. I also agree that if the pipeline was open that gas and oil prices might finally start to lower to prices we are much more okay with.
i dont feel like they should stop any pipelines in any area of theworld ubless it gets out of control. If it's the safest way then why did we shut it down, doesn't make sense to me? No, they should have never stopped it so the case was unnecessary. The court case was very unecessary.
The pipeline is already there si it is pointles to stop using it, it makes no sense not too. It is keeping oil under ground and it will make the U.S. OIL INDEPENDENT i dont understand why biden stopped it he made the gas prices rise and now we aer relying on other countries for oil the pipline should not be stopped and put back in effect.
I don't think that the Dakota Access Pipeline should have been stopped. It would have helped out economy a lot and since it was stopped, it was just a waste of money. A lot of people probably lost jobs and stuff too. I also don't think that the court case was necessary.
I think that we should consider the effects of that pipeline that caused the Rock Sioux Tribe to complain. It is well known that reservations usually get some of the worst lands and are not very well for agronomy. So if this pipeline is affecting them in that sense then they have a complete right to complain and demand that it be moved. If it doesn't affect them at all then I don't understand what the problem is.
I think the pipeline should not have been stopped. I think it was a waste of time to go to court and a waste of money to shut it down. I think it was an important pipeline that should be continued. There should have been precautions but it shouldn't have been shut down.
