Taxpayers currently pay for public elementary, middle and high school education, so why shouldn’t taxpayers pay for the education employees need today. Doesn’t the USA need a better educated population to compete with the world? Yes. The knowledge needed to qualify for jobs increases every year.
Did farmers in the 1970’s need computer applications and finance knowledge to make a living in farming? No. They plowed, planted, harvested, and delivered their crops to the local elevator for the price determined by the elevator that day. Today, farmers need to know a lot about chemicals, seed genetics, machinery loaded with high tech equipment, budgets, environmental and safety regulations, marketing plans, crop insurance, and much more.
An elementary level education may have been good enough for our country and most of its workers back in the 1800’s. In 2021, a college level education is equal to the elementary level education of the 1800’s. So, the country needs to catch up with the times and pay for the education the country needs today. Call it college or start offering 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th grades at public schools.
What do you think, Should tax payers pay for college why or why not?
Is this a step in the right direction for our country?

I don't think taxpayers should pay for others colleges. If they said that it would pay for colleges the taxes would go up higher and nearly any of it will go to colleges. No it's not in the right step for our country they already have high taxes and this might get it worse than we think we don't know whats all gonna happen when they do this.
I personally do not believe in taxpayers to pay for others college. A good chunk of our world does not even go to college. So, it wouldn't be fair to them. Also, I feel people should really fight for it. College shouldn't be handed out like a free t-shirt. College shouldn't be paid by the taxpayers.
I do not think that taxpayers should pay for college. If people want to go into a career field that needs a college degree they should have to pay for it. Currently, there are plenty of jobs that do not require a college degree. If college degrees became normal for everyone to have there would be nothing special about having one.
I don't think taxpayers paid for college. First, a lot of people don't go to college, some join the military or go to trade schools, and some just work. I think that the way that it is set up now has multiple things wrong with it, however it does work very well.
I don't think it would be good if taxes paid for college because lots of people don't go to college and why should they have to pay for someone else's college degree. i think the system that we have now has its flaws but it works well enough.
I think paying taxes for college is a good idea because it makes sense that if we pay taxes for elementary, intermediate, and high school then we should pay taxes for college as well. Like you said before, people need a college-level education in order to be able to find good jobs, and know what they are doing. If those are our standards then we should be paying taxes for that.
Not all jobs need a college degree, I think that if college degrees become the new high school diploma what would the point of college be? If everyone has a college education there would be nothing to set people apart by. I also do not think that taxes should be raised for people's college education.
I do not think tax payers should pay for college for students because it isn't fair to those who have already paid for their college because they will want a refund. I also think it isn't a good Idea because more people will drop out because it will be easier for them to because they don't have money stuck into it. It is also a very good learning experience for the students paying for college it helps them save their money in the future and really shows them how valuable money really is.
Taxpayers should pay for college, so that way the people that go, can just go and not worry about student loans, or debt. I believe this would be a step in the right direction because then students could afford to go to college, which means more doctors trying to cure this stupid covid disease.
I don't think that the tax payers should have to pay for college, first off it would not be fair to the people still paying taxes that have graduated college because they had to make sacrifices to pay for college and now they have to pay to have kids go to college and the college students don't have to pay for it. and if this were to happen it would most likley raise taxes which with everything else such as gas and fuel rising in prices it would be too exspensive.
