Currently, there is no limit to how many terms a senator or representative can be in office for. Over the last few years, there has been a movement to limit the number of terms they can serve for. There are many reasons people want a limit.
One of those reasons is that it would help bring new blood into congress. This would bring in new ideas. It would also make them not fight as much if they want their plan to go through because they have a much more finite amount of time to work with.
Another reason is it could help lower corruption in the government. This would happen because lobbyists wouldn’t be able to “invest” in their campaigns as much because they can only run a few times. Corruption would also be lowered by them not getting attached to their power and it corrupting them.
Do you think there should be term limits on representatives and senators and why?
How many terms do you think the limit should be and why?

I agree it would help the democratic process if they had term limits and that some have made it their lives work which is fine if they actually got things the people want to be done.
I do not believe that senators and representatives should have term limits. I believe this because they represent what the people want, that is why they elect them. If a senator/representative do there job as the population back in their state like, they will re-elect them. That is why run for election every other year. Granted, the House of Rep. have 2 year term while the Senators have 6 year term. I think that senators should have there terms shortened to 4 years, but the House of Rep. should stay at 2 years because it should change with how the states and country change to represent them.
I agree that the senate term should be reduced to 4 years because 6 years is just to long but I also thing that the house should also be moved to 4 because it seems like it is always changing.
I think sentors should have a limit on how many years they can serve. Everything else has a limit why don't they? With having the same people over and over, you don't get much done because they don't always come to an agreement. Having new people come in gives new thoughts and ideas, like you said above new blood. They should beable to serve 4 years just like the presidant.
I think there should be a term limit on representatives and senators because sometimes it is good to change things up. I think that if they was term limits that it should be 5 or 6 terms because if you get reelected that many times than that probably means that you are a good politician but I think there should be a limit because there is on most of the other positions in the government.
I do agree if they keep getting reelected it must mean they are good at what they do but it could also mean they just haven't done anything to hurt the people. I think that 5 or 6 terms are a bit long but I think 3 is the more moderate number of terms.
I do think there should be a term limit because bringing in new faces will give everybody new ideas and could possibly bring a lot more help to the world. I think that the term limit should be 4 years because that would give them plenty of time to get there faces out there and give their ideas to help the U.S. then after the term we can have newer faces to help us.
I think that there should be term limits for senators because there are term limits for everyone else. I don't think that the same old person should be allowed to be a senator for thirty years without changing any goals, ideas, or policies. I think the maximum time they should be able to serve is eight years.
I agree that some old people should not be making the laws for 30 years but eight years seems a bit too short and then it might just be new people trying to get used to it and not be very productive either.
