What's the big deal with dress codes? Women get shamed for wearing a tank top into school. What's wrong with showing shoulders? Women get a lot more hate on their outfits that they choose to wear to school. Why is this? Most schools only focus on the girls clothes. But when Men wear cut offs, that's okay? Studies show that women get the most hate on a daily basis for what they wear to school. Studies show that when you interrupt a girls school day to have them change it ruins their whole self esteem, and confidence. I see how it can do that. Girls don't want to be told what they can and can't wear. When they feel pretty and confident in what their wearing, let them be. As a example, skirts, dresses, ripped jeans, shorts, tank tops, and a crop top. Who cares if your shoulders, belly, thighs, and arms are showing. What is so distracting about that? Maybe teach men how to be appropriate about it. There is nothing wrong with showing your curves. All bodies are beautiful, but the dress code shames those women who have confidence in themselves.
Boys and Men don't take it appropriately. It's always a comment on how a girl dresses throughout the day. Why can a boy get away with wearing cut offs, cut jeans that show their underwear? How is this fare? What is so different about a girl showing skin and a boy showing skin?
Do you think dress codes are unfair?
What do you think we could do to prevent this?

Great topic choice Chloe! Be sure to list sources you used. I do think your summary could be longer and also be sure to comment back to students on three different days.
I think there could be changes to the dress code, but they're still needs to be one. If there are no restrictions girls could wear bikinis to school and that is not needed. I think things like showing a couple of inches of midriff and showing shoulders should not be against the dress code.
I do not think that dress codes are unfair, but I do think that there is a slight problem with it. They are enforced too heavly. If someone is wearing something clearly innapropriate then obviously they should be dress coded, but they shouldn't be dress coded if it isn't that bad.
I do not think that the current dress code is terribly unfair or needs to be changed. But, I do think that there is a problem with how aggressively it is enforced. I feel that when someone is wearing something that is obviously inappropriate it should be enforced, but other times it is not necessary.
I do think dress codes are unfair because they are mainly towards women but I do not think the dress code is that big of a deal because it is not hard to not show to much off. I do not think it is necessary to show off your stomach and wear short shorts to school because it is just school and if you want to wear that stuff then you can wear it on the weekends. I also think that guys can be taught manners and to not get distracted.
I do think dress codes are unfair because they are mainly targeted towards women. I can also see that they are targeted towards women because they are mainly the offenders of inappropriate clothing. I think that schools should loosen the dress code a little and only dress code people when it is actually distracting.
I agree! I dont understand how a girls arm is distracting to anyone else, everyone has them. They make it feel as if girls are the reasons for the dress code. I do understand if you wear something way to showing, than thats a good excuse. but legs and shoulders? No
I think that the dress code is fine the way it is and does not cause a problem with how it is. I do not think that dress codes are unfair because boys have dress codes as well. I think that dress codes should be left alone and are fine the way they are and should remain the same.
I see where your getting at with your point but. What exactly is with the boys dress code. Nothing in the handbook is targeted to men. Its to girls. Men can get away with wearing tank tops to school but girls cant? Explain how this is fair. Boys come to school with holes in their back so you can see their underwear, but dont get in trouble. But if a girl shows her thighs with ripped jeans its against dress code vialation.
I think that dress code should be inforced because there are kids nowadays trying to wear things they shouldn't be wearing. We could have it more inforced but I wouldn't want people to feel like they are being attacked for what they are wearing. We should all know what apportiate to wear at certian palces.
