Should have the Washington Redskins changed their name? Should the Cleveland Indians have to change their name? There are many debates on what is right and wrong. Along with the BLM riots, this goes with what's happening. The Washington Football Team changed their name to this right before the season started. Now with everything happening there are debates on if the Cleveland Indians should change their name. Is this going to lead to many other name changes in the future?
Why did the Washington Redskins change their name to the Washington Football team? They changed their name because it was considered a racial slur. Washington team president states, “recognize that the change isn't coming tomorrow.” The Washington Football team could possibly have that name for one or two years. They have to design a logo and new jerseys, along with putting the new logo on the field. Anyone with a trademark to change the name would likely take Washington to court to receive money.
I personally think they shouldn’t have to change their name. No one was magerly hurt from their name. Will this just lead to a ton of new teams and basically restarting? No one was affected by this until they knew they could cause trouble in the world. Now causing the Cleveland Idians to change their name is in my opinion a bad idea.

Great topic choice Brehden! I do think your summary could have been more of a hot take with the summary focused around your thoughts and opinions. I also think you could have educasted people a bit more on the name and the history of it and why it's controversial.
I don't think that pro teams should have to change their names because if someone doesn't like the team name they are just going to have to deal with it. Most of the teams have had those names since they started and I think they should be able to keep their names.
Personally I do not thing that changing the names of football teams will solve anything. I just do not understand why the names had to be changed now considering these names have always been in place. I do not think that the Redskins should have chnged their name. When the Redskins started, the name was to honor the Native Americans. Redskins was not a slur when the team acquired the name.
I think it is really dumb that they are changing a name that no one had a problem with till the riots. It's going to cost millions of dollars to change everything. When people are watching football they don't want to hear about the players or teams political beliefs we just want to watch football. Before the change I never once thought that was racist I thought it was almost like a tribute to native americans that they have a team named after them. DUM is about the only word I can think of that describes this.
I think these teams are getting attacked for no reason. I don't even think that it is the indians complaining, its just people thinking that it has a chance of being racist. The Washington Football team should not have changed their name they could've held their ground and just said that there is a lot of history behind the name and it was not good that they changed it.
I think that some of the teams should have changed their name, I don't know if the clevland Indians should change theirs, because it isn't quite like the Washington Redskins. I think that they were right for changing their name but I'm not sure if all teams need to change their name because of it. I think people care too much about things like this. Some native people take redskin as a compliment.
Personally I don't have a problem with the names, I actually thought the Redskins was kind of a cool name, but I can't speak for the people of that race and if they didn't like it then I think they should change it. There is a sea of names out there and if a group of people are offended by your name then you might as well change it before you get in more mayhem.
These names were made so long ago. It's part of History and just because you are sensitive and get offended by it doesn't mean everything needs to change. The Redskins should still be the Redskins. The current people on and running the team didn't choose the name, and aren't being racist.
I don't think these teams should have to change their names, they've had these names and logos for a really long time. It doesn't make sense for them to change them now. I don't think it was really affecting people and if it was they should've said it sooner instead of randomly in the middle of BLM protests. Lots of teams with those names have also consulted with a tribe near them before making the name.
Yes they should not have to change their name over this nonsense. It didn't affect anyone until they knew they could cause trouble.
