Should plastic water bottles be banned?

" About 70% of plastic water bottles bought in the United States are not recycled." Most of the plastic water bottles end up in the sea or landfills. Also, plastic water bottles can create micro plastics that can leak into the ocean. There are reports of microplastics in humans and the health effects of it. "Microplastics have been detected in food consumed by humans" Side effects of microplastics are nausea vomiting and many other effects.

Theirs lots of alternatives like using a metal water bottle, also boxed water is good and better for the environment. Instead of buying plastic water bottles get glassed water it's a better option. The glassed water might be a little more expensive but its better for the environment.

By having the plastic water bottles being banned there's a lot of benefits like having better drinking water and having less pollution.

Do you use single-use plastic water bottles?

What do you think the United States is going to do about it?

  • I like your topic choice Hugo! Your summary is brief and you could have replied more frequently to students.

  • Also I think that maybe we should just recycle the water bottles instead of throwing them away. That would solve that problem. I think that the U.S won't interfeir about plastic water bottles because they probally have more important things to do.

  • I think that makin plastic water bottles not a thing anymore it would help the environment, but it would ruin an indostry of companies. I don't use these plastic water bottles. I don't think the U.S will do anything about this.

  • I use single-use water bottles, but whenever I use them I put them in the recycling bin of my house so it can turn into something new, I also have a metal water bottle so I can just pour in water and drink it whenever there are no plastic water bottles.

  • I don't use plastic water bottles, I feel like you only use them once and then throw them away. to me they're a waste of money to buy and not worth it. It's so annoying seeing plastic water bottles all over the community, it makes everything look dumpy. They honestly should be banned, but I don't think that they're going to get banned.

  • I don't think the US will ban plastic bottles. They will probably provide and promote many alternatives, but plastic bottles are far too used to just ban them.

  • I have used single-use water bottles from time. But all you need to do is put it in the recycling bin. Then the "pollution" you just drank out of is turned into reusable plastics. Plus, if we ban plastic water bottles, what are people going to use from now on? If we keep pumping out aluminum water bottles we will be mining more creating more pollution in the process.

  • I do use plastic water bottles because metal water bottles don't fit in my bag nicely. I will refill the plastic water bottles though, so they last about a week. Then I recycle them. I hope they are recycled but a lot of plastics we recycle are just thrown in a dump.

  • I still use plastic water bottles sometimes. However, I don't think the United States will do anything about it. But if they would actually pay attention to it I think our sea life would be healthier and the earth would be cleaner.

  • I personally use my metal water bottle, or I bring a plastic water bottle. I use my metal one more often, but I really don't care which one I drink out of. A metal water bottle is a lot more eco-friendly. But I just use my metal one because it keeps my water cold instead and is more convenient.
