Should Minimum Wage be Raised?

As of right now the minimum wage for workers across the United States is 7.25. Many people believe that the minimum wage should be raised to around $10.00, while some people believe that it should be raised to $15.00 an hour. Not all states follow the federal minimum wage. States such as Arizona and Alaska have changed the minimum wage. Alaska's minimum wage is at $10.34 and Arizonas is at $12.15. Many states still follow the federal minimum wage. 21 states still have the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour. Many states do not believe in only paying the average worker minimum wage.

I personally believe that it would be ok if the minimum wage was raised to something like 9 or 10 dollars an hour. I think it would be ridiculous if it was raised to something like  $15 an hour. Many businesses would struggle if they had to pay all of their workers $15 an hour. Then you would have to make it fair by raising other workers wages to make it fair. I also think it would be ok if they raised it just a little because you can not make a living by making just $7.25 an hour. There is no way you would be able to live a decent life. I think it would be ok if they just raised it by a few dollars and kept it at something realistic. I do not think that it is realistic for them to raise it to something like 15 or 16 bucks an hour because many businesses, mainly small businesses, would probably go under and not be able to continue doing what they were doing.

Do you think the minimum wage should be raised?

If so, what do you think it should be raised to?

  • I definetly do not think that the minumum wage should be raised because all it would do is decline the value of the American dollar wich would not help people at all. It would also make comadities go way up. Most places already pay more than minum wage anyway so it does not matter.

    • I agree becasue hardly any businesses actually pay minimum wage.

  • I do think minimum wage could be raised, it's not a bad idea. Raising it to 8 or 9 seems more acceptable, raising it to 13 to 15 is way to much for a 14 or 15 year old. If the minimum wage was rasied up to 15 an hour, everything would become way more expensive.

    • I agree that the prices of things would go way up.

  • I think that the minimum wage needs to be raised. It's an incentive to get people to work, and also the current wage is just not feasible for people living in today's age to survive on. Living in America is expensive and that's simply just not enough.

    • I also think that it would be good to help more people work.

  • I think it should be raised, but I also think it is a tough decision. Small businesses will probably have to have less employees if they can not pay them that. I think they should raised it a little bit like 9 or 10. I think it should be raised considering inflation.

  • I think the minimum wage should be raised, but to a reasonable price. I think if it was raised up to eight or nine dollars an hour I think that would be a good minimum wage. I personally don't think the minimum wage should be raised to fifteen dollars an hour, because then inflation will occur and the price of everything will skyrocket.

    • I also agree that it would be fine if it was raised to 8 or 9 dollars.

  • I think that minimum wage should be raised, but we have to be careful though because if we raise minimum wage then the higher ups will want a raise then the demand for products will go up then then the grocery stores will have to raise prices then it's a whole system of disaster.
