Should isasp test be issued at schools?
ISASP (Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress) was developed in 1935 and has been given to 3-11 grade students in the category of mathematics, reading, and biology. ISASP was developed to meet the requirements federal every student Success Act (ESSA). Witch is a U.S law passed in December 2015 to hold students accountable for how students learn and achieve.
ISASP is a state standardized test that mostly everybody took here recently and most people did not like taking it. I have heard teachers say that they don't like giving the ISASP test. I personally don't like ISASP testing and think that it should not be given at school. Some people might argue this and say isasp is good and that it is a way for teachers to see what you know and what you don't. People might also say that it is good because if people score high the school gets more state funding. I completely agree but I feel that our knowledge can be tested besides something other than a large state standardized test.
ISASP is a test that a lot of people get stressed over, including teachers and other school staff. Isasp gets teachers stressed because they have to initiate a full online test and technology doesn't always work the best. Teachers also have to make sure that there are no posters, pictures, or lettering on the walls that could help any student in any way. Isasp also stresses out students because there are 3-5 important tests that are in a week and if they don't score proficient then they lose more privileges when they get further on in high school. Isasp also stresses out other school staff like computer techs because during the testing a lot of things can go wrong with the computer or the app that ISASP is on.

Questions:
Do you think that ISASP should be administered?
What are some other ways the state can test our knowledge?
Do you think open campus should be based on ISASP?
Replies
i agree ISASP can be very stressful and tireing
I don't think that ISASP's are a good way to test students knowlege. Some students don't preform well on standardized tests even though their grades in the classroom are good. I do think that we should continue to take them but not let so many things depend on how well a student scores, open campus, advanced classes and other opportunites should not be based on ISASP scores.
I agree and it might help if they were shortened a little bit
I do think that the ISASP's should be administered as it is for the state to compare grades more than for our teachers. It would be very difficult to test everyone in the states knowledge without doing a standardized test due to the classes everyone is taking. I don't think open campus should be based on ISASP.
I see where you come from but different teachers teach in different ways which causes not all schools to have gotten to the same standards.
Although I know that the ISASPs can cause stress and anxiety, I do believe that the ISASPs should be administered. I don't think that it should hyped up as much, I also don't think that open campus should be hanging on the tests. The Iowa Assessments are used to compare grades throughout the country. An A in Harlan could not be the same A in Avoca.
I can see where you come from that you think ISASP is good. I agree ISASP should not be as hyped, and I also don't think ISASP should control if you get open campus or not.
In a sense I think the taking ISASP is not worth the time. People who are very smart sometimes are just not good at taking tests. Also there is so many different things on one ISASP test that it is to broad compared to what we are taught.
I agree all teachers teach different so you are probably not going to know everything on the tests
I think taking Iowa Asessments is pointless in a way because some people who are super smart, just aren't good at taking tests. Your knowledge based on an administrated test doesn't really show your worth ethic, and I don't find that fair. Also schools teach different things, which can come to an advantage.
