should ISASP be administered

Should isasp test be issued at schools?

ISASP (Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress) was developed in 1935 and has been given to 3-11 grade students in the category of mathematics, reading, and biology. ISASP was developed to meet the requirements federal every student Success Act (ESSA). Witch is a U.S law passed in December 2015 to hold students accountable for how students learn and achieve.

ISASP is a state standardized test that mostly everybody took here recently and most people did not like taking it. I have heard teachers say that they don't like giving the ISASP test. I personally don't like ISASP testing and think that it should not be given at school. Some people might argue this and say isasp is good and that it is a way for teachers to see what you know and what you don't. People might also say that it is good because if people score high the school gets more state funding. I completely agree but I feel that our knowledge can be tested besides something other than a large state standardized test.

ISASP is a test that a lot of people get stressed over, including teachers and other school staff. Isasp gets teachers stressed because they have to initiate a full online test and technology doesn't always work the best. Teachers also have to make sure that there are no posters, pictures, or lettering on the walls that could help any student in any way. Isasp also stresses out students because there are 3-5 important tests that are in a week and if they don't score proficient then they lose more privileges when they get further on in high school. Isasp also stresses out other school staff like computer techs because during the testing a lot of things can go wrong with the computer or the app that ISASP is on.

Questions:

Do you think that ISASP should be administered?

What are some other ways the state can test our knowledge?

Do you think open campus should be based on ISASP?

    • I agree that it could be better if it was optional and we actually had a purpose for doing it like a day off, however, I think it could be shortened. I do not agree that extracurriculars should not be based on ISASP because not everybody is good at taking tests and the tests are so broad that you don't know some of the things on the test.

  • I think that the ISASP should be administered even though I really dislike it. I think they should lay back the test a little bit (Especially the English tests). Our states can also require a subject be taught and the big final test on that subject should be reported to them.

    • I can see why ISASP is a good thing, and agree the test should be layed back and shortened. it is not easy to write a 5 paragraph essay during 1 testing period

  • I do not think that ISASP should be administered. I think that the semester tests work better since the knowledge of those are stuff we learned for sure in class already. I do not think that open campus should be based on ISASP because some people are not  good at taking long tests.

    • I agree because some of the stuff on ISASP is stuff we have never learned before

  • I don't think ISASP should be administered. I think that the state should look at the tests that we take every week in some classes. I don't think we have to take these long tests and some things on it, we learned ages ago. I think they just make students tired and stressed out.

    • I agree but disagree, I agree because they make people stressed out, but I disagree because they should not look at weekly tests they should look at semester test

  • I do not think ISASP should be administered because it stresses everyone out and when people are stressed, they struggle to do the test and could not do very well on it. I feel like the state does not need to see our knowledge because they can just look at our test grades.

    • I agree ISASP causes students to be stressed out which cause lower test grade I also agree that the state should go based on our grades not require us to take a standardized test

  • Personally, I get very tired once I have taken multiple tests in a row on a computer. My vision starts to get worse after staring at a screen for that long, so it is hard to stay focused during a large standardized test. I think open campus would help me to relax a bit better during ISASP testing.
