There are lots of people that think gun laws should be more strict. On the other hand, some people think they should stay the same or even be less strict. Firearms are becoming more powerful so people are starting to think that gun laws need to be more strict. Congress hasn’t passed any major gun control legislation in 2 decades. On average every year 36,000 Americans die of mass shootings, suicide, and other tragedies. There are an estimated 300 million guns amongst Americans. Guns don’t cause crime but they are easily available and make deadly shootings.
On July 24, 2014, a doctor used his concealed handgun to stop a gunman, only 1 worker died but if the doctor did not have his handgun there would have been many more killed. The criminal had a criminal record and had mental problems, so this disqualified him from buying any firearm under federal law. It would be very unrealistic to put heavier gun laws is because there are so many guns in the country that people would just buy them illegally. Gun control has consistently failed so many times in the past. Lots of people think there should keep gun laws the way they are. If you have been to a gun show or a gun store or anything like that you would know it’s not very hard to get a gun, all you have to do is fill out paperwork and do a background check. Lots of people can take the gun they bought in the store and take it home on the same day.
I personally think they should keep the gun laws the same because it’s the second amendment and we should all own a gun if we want to. Gun can protect people and some people don’t think of that. If there is a mass shooter, it’s going to be nice to have a gun to try and stop him but if no one has a gun, there will be a lot of deaths. When you're 18 years old you can buy a rifle or shotgun but you have to be 21 to be able to buy a handgun. I really think we should keep this law but if I could choose I would rather have the age for owning a handgun lowered down to 18.
Should gun control be more strict or stay the same?
What do you think about this problem?

Good job overall Josh! While your summary could be a bit more polished, you give good effort and inlcude your personal opinions as well.
I think that gun control laws should stay the same instead of becoming more strict. This is because we need to be able to protect ourselves and that is what guns let us do. Even if the law got more strict, people who want to use guns to kill people will always find a way around it.
I think that Guns should be controlled to a certaint extent. people should need backround checks and should have to have a permit to carry because of saftey reasons. But people should also beable to protect themselves too. Like i would want a gun to protect my self when im out in public or at home with a premit to carry.
I think gun control laws should stay the way they are. Guns are very important for people to have. They let us protect ourselves. I also fell like making laws more strict won't make much of a difference. The people that want to hurt people are going to find a way to hurt people.
I think that gun control should stay the same because if it's more strict we wont be able to protect ourselves and it can end up very bad if the gun laws are gonna be very strict and eveyone uses the guns to go hunting and to get food and if the gun laws are more strict we won't be able to get food and it will be hard to live.
I think that gun control should stay the same because there is not a problem with guns right now. I think that there is no problem with guns and that they should not change them. And it would change the way people hunt which would be a problem.
I agree that there is nothing wrong with gun laws because there is no reason. I also agree that there is nothing wrong with guns because you can use them for recreational use and hunting and trap shooting and practice shooting. I don't get why some people think that guns are only for killing.
I feel that if the gun laws were more strict it wouldn't make a difference. I think that the people that want to buy guns to hurt people will still find a way around all the new things that would come with a strict law. I think that the gun law is fine the way it is because those people that buy a gun just for protection don’t need to be interrogated before buying the gun. I think that with the background check and everything those people that want to buy a gun can be able to buy a gun. As long as everything comes back fine with the background check and everything else.
I think that as long as they're enforced correctly the laws don't need to change. A lot needs to go into background checks to ensure that the people trying to purchase guns are mentally fit to own the weapon-- this is the primary way to try to ensure safety.
I think that gun laws should stay the same. If gun laws were more controlled, people would not be able to protect themselves from danger. Because if gun laws become so strict, people won’t have the ability to use self-definece. If the gun laws are stricter, they might limit the number of guns you can own. So, that is why I think that the gun laws should remain the same.
