Greg McDermott was recently suspended indefinitely from coaching for the Creighton Basketball team after what people took as a racial slur he had said in the locker room after a loss. He offered to resign from coaching because of his comments. He said his players did not ask for him to resign. The decision to suspend him happened two days after the incident.
McDermott said that when he apologized he saw the pain in the players faces and it hurt him. In the locker room after the loss McDermott said “Guys, we got to stick together. We need both feet in. I need everybody to stay on the plantation. I can't have anybody leave the plantation.” He then made a tweet saying that what he said should have a consequence and he agrees with the suspension.
I don’t think McDermott should be fired because I don’t think he meant it the way people took it. This is also the only time he had ever said anything like this. I think the suspension is a good consequence.

I understand what he said couldve been taken many ways but I dont think it was meant as serious as it was taken. I dont think he should be fired rather he should be on a payed leave or something to that affect.
I don't think he should be fired. He did the right thing by coming out and apologizing immediately. He already got a bad enough punishment by getting suspended. I would be pretty upset if he was fired. People have done worse things and not gotten fired for it. I'm glad he was able to keep his job and forget about it.
I dont think that Greg should be fired. He apologized and didnt mean it. People say things they dont mean all the time, I dont think he should get fired for this. I would be angry but I would also understand that he messed up.
I think they shouldn’t fire Greg McDermott because many people mess up and get second chances. I think he was just angry and said something he didn’t mean. I think if they gave him another chance and he still messed up then maybe he should get fired. But since it’s his first time, I think he should get another shot.
I don't think that Doug McDermott should be fired just because he was in the moment and he wasn't thinking right and he was just saying words at that point. Also I think that people just are too soft and he was just trying to show his team how much this loss ment to him.
I don't think that Doug should be firred because it did not sound like he meant it in that way, but he should be punished because it is a good lesson. He could easliy been fired but I think that he shouldn't. And the players were also in shock too. I think he is a great coach and he will be coaching after he suspension.

I think that he didnt mean to do it on purpose because accidents happen and people sometimes say what they dont mean to say, so I think they should give him another chance even tho he messed up.
i personily dont think that mcdermott should be fired because he didnt mean for it to be rasist in any way and people took it that way but he owned it and said he was sorry for saying that and i dont think so because he has never done anything like this before.
