Should felons be able to vote?

At the Republican debate in South Carolina on Moday they debated about whether criminals/felons should be able to vote, even after they are out of jail. Some states are rethinking now whether just a court punishment is enough for the 2.3 million people that are incarcerated. 23 states have lifted the resrictions to their voting since 1997, but last year Iowa and Florida put them down again.

I think that it should depend on what they are incarcerated for.

what do you think?

  • Everybody should be able to vote even if they were incarcerated in the past because everyone should have a say in the government.
  • If they did something bad to put them into jail then they should have no say in voting. I dont think jailers should vote at all!!
  • Felons are felons, but they are people as well. Even though they are in prison for obvious reasons they probably don't care, but if they want to vote, all men are created equal and someone should give them a pen and paper. Just don't let them escape by using them!
  • Just because they commited a crime doesn't mean they have no political views. They should probably still have the right to vote.
  • Everyone deserves a vote even if they are in jail. There are a lot of people in jail or that have been in jail, so that's a lot of people that aren't getting a vote. So yes I think people who have been a felon or who is a felon should be able to vote.
