Should Farmers use GMO's or just natural plants? Both ways have advantages and disadvantages, however, there are more advantages to using GMO's. On our personal farm, we use Gentically Modified corn and soybeans which are sold to make fuel and feed livestock. Crops that are genetically modified are typically more immune to disease and grow a higher yield based on what they are modified for. Whether it be more height, less height, or more yield. All of the modifications are tailored to the climate that they are grown in.
Clearly, both sides have their advantages and disadvantages, so let's go over them. For non-GMO plants, one advantage is a guarantee that there are no chemicals used that can cause harm to the consumer. A disadvantage to non-GMO plants is that they are much less immune to disease so yield is stunted greatly. This makes them much less efficient to the acre and not sustainable. One disadvantage to GMO plants is the fact that there is a very small amount of pesticide that remains on the plant all the way to the store and will be consumed when eaten. The amount of pesticide is so small that it can not and will not affect the consumer. An advantage to GMO plants is the fact that they can be tailored to their climate to make the most yield possible. For GMO plants, less chemical needs to be used because it is already more immune to the diseases that affect the non-GMO plants. Clearly, the GMO plants are more effective and efficient.
In my opinion, GMO plants are much better sustainability-wise and efficiency-wise. Using less chemical, creating more yield, and being overall more efficient. Using less chemical is also better for the environment and the animals who drink out of the water that the excess chemical runs to. Sprayers are getting more and more efficient as well. This is making them use less chemical and be much more accurate on the amount of spray used per plant.
Do you think farmers should use GMO's or non-GMO's, and why?

While it didn't get any love, you did your job very well!

I think GMO's is a good thing. Like with crops you dont have to use very many chemicals wich saves on a farmer. There are not very many diseases anymore and the crops are also a lot more drought tolrant and shorter day.
Yes, another thing that genetic modification helps with is drought tolerance. By making them require less water, the plants can make a higher yield with less moisture. Chemical use is definitely a controversial topic when it comes to produce as well.
