College graduates earn 80% more than non-college graduates. However, only 51% of people in America see college as important. In 2009, the Obama administration wanted to increase the amount of 25-34 year olds with college degrees or certificates to 60% by 2020. At the rate we are going, it would take until 2056 to reach this goal. The United States’ economy is dependent on the educational success of Americans. Without sufficient workers to complete the work needed to keep America running, we would ultimately fall to poverty.
One reason college has been pushed off for students is because of cost, which has increased by 25% just over this decade. The increased costs has put student debt in America at its peak. This alone is causing the importance of college in kids’ minds to drop significantly. However, having a college education increases the pay you make by a ton compared to someone who doesn’t graduate from college. So while you may spend a few years paying off student loans, you will be making more money in the long run.
Another reason students’ have seemed to lose interest in college is because of millionaires like Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates who are both college dropouts. These few exceptions cause kids to believe that they can make it just fine without a college education. While yes, it is true that you can make a good living without a college degree, you would be able to live more comfortably with one.
Without college education, our country will lack skilled workers and our economy will be hurt. While we can live without a college degree, it is important to our society. College isn’t a necessity for individuals, but our economy will continue to grow and flourish with college degrees.

I think it just depends on who you are and what you want to do. I kown a lot of people who work for there family buisens and they are doing great with out college and are just going to take over right as soon as they are done with high school. I think you should at less go to trade school if you dont have like a job coming out of high school. I will probilly go to a trade school.
I think that it should be a priority for some people but also not for others. For some people going to college would be a waste of time because they could just start the business they were thinking about making after high school. However, for others, it would be very good for them to go to college because they could figure out what they want to do in life.
I do think that college is important but I think they need to fix it. I think that there are many classes in college that you shouldn't have to take because you will never need it later on in life. College is supposed to help lead you into the future in the real world. I think that some math and science should not be required unless you are going into something that you will need it. They need to teach you more real life skills. I do plan on going to college just because you can get a job much easier if you lose a job or really in need of one.
I agree with you because college has classes that you will never need to take, but you can decide whether or not if you want to take those clases. I do also think college really helps with getting a job easier and faster along with you having a great education about that carrer.
I don' think that college should be required but rather the students choice. I do plan on going too college eventhough it will end up being a really big cost. I don't think that pushing kids to go to college is going to help because they are just going to do what they want to do.
I think college shouldn’t be a priority. I think college should always be a choice because many jobs don’t require a college degree to be hired. While you would get a higher paying job, you also have to pay a lot for college. I just think people should have the option to do more schooling or not.
I agree with you, for some people though it should be a priority. If you are coming out of college and still don't know what you want to do going to college could definitely help you figure out what you want to do. However, if you want to start a business then going to college could just be a waste of time and money.
I don't think college should be a priority. I believe it should be their choice. I plan on going to college even though I know it's going to cost a lot. Pushing people to go to college isn't going to help the situation. Students are goign to do what they want and what benefits them.
It depends on the person. There are lots of high paying jobs for college graduates and highschool diplomas alike. Though they may look a little different, I think that if someone is able to make a comfortable living without a college education they would be better off. Student loan debts are insane and I think that those in debt becuase of student loans will have the disadvantage if that is the case. I do plan on going to college because the field I want to enter requires quite a bit of schooling. But even now, as a high school freshman, I've been thinking about financail methods.
I think college needs to be more affordable for people so that they dont end up with the major depts. I think trade school college or any extra schooling after highschool will help people better their futures though.
