College graduates earn 80% more than non-college graduates. However, only 51% of people in America see college as important. In 2009, the Obama administration wanted to increase the amount of 25-34 year olds with college degrees or certificates to 60% by 2020. At the rate we are going, it would take until 2056 to reach this goal. The United States’ economy is dependent on the educational success of Americans. Without sufficient workers to complete the work needed to keep America running, we would ultimately fall to poverty.
One reason college has been pushed off for students is because of cost, which has increased by 25% just over this decade. The increased costs has put student debt in America at its peak. This alone is causing the importance of college in kids’ minds to drop significantly. However, having a college education increases the pay you make by a ton compared to someone who doesn’t graduate from college. So while you may spend a few years paying off student loans, you will be making more money in the long run.
Another reason students’ have seemed to lose interest in college is because of millionaires like Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates who are both college dropouts. These few exceptions cause kids to believe that they can make it just fine without a college education. While yes, it is true that you can make a good living without a college degree, you would be able to live more comfortably with one.
Without college education, our country will lack skilled workers and our economy will be hurt. While we can live without a college degree, it is important to our society. College isn’t a necessity for individuals, but our economy will continue to grow and flourish with college degrees.

I think that trade school is a very important and smart way to going about college. I agree with everything you are saying and I see where you are coming from. I think that having farm kids go to college willl help them better there farm though.
No, I do not think that college should be a priority, because I believe that it should be a choice. I do think that if more people went to college they would have more opportunities, but I understand that just some people do not want to go to college and that is ok.
I agree it should be a choice and if the person dosen't want to go to college and they already have job and living a good life then they don't have to go to college if they don't want to. Yes if you go to college you would have more opportunites after for more jobs. And yes you don't have to go and it's fine.
I don't think college should be a priority. I believe everyone should at least research a college they are interested in, but college shouldn't keep people up at night worrying. People are capable of succeeding without graduating college. A lot of high-paying jobs require some kind of college degree, however, other jobs are just as good.
College should definetly be one of someones top options for a step in getting a good job but I don't think that it should be a priority because there are many millionaires and successful people who didn't go to college. I do plan on attending college and I want to play football.
Honestly, I think you should be able to choose your own path and if college is the best thing to do for that imparticular path then you should definetly do it. However, not everyone wants to go to college and there are many successful people who never even went to college.
No I don't think they should because if they don't want to go to college than they don't have to and I think that there are a lot of people who have great lifes that didn't go to college. I don't know yet because I don't know what I want to major in or what I want to do yet. If I were to go to college I would probably go to Iowa.
I think people should be able chose but I beilve that going to college will help them in there future. the end of the day its there choice but I feel they will live a better life by going to some sort of schooling
No, I do not think that college should be a priority. I think if more people went to colleges it would be better for the economy but some people don't want to go to college. I most likely will go to college. I don't have much interest in the military or a trade school so I will most likely go to college.
