In 1821 Connecticut passed the law to legalize abortions after “quickening.”This was the first law passed in the United States to legalize abortions. Abortion has been a controversial topic since then. By 1860 30 states allowed abortion within their state.
In the womb, a baby's heartbeat can begin as early as 3 weeks post conception. Planned Parenthood and abortion clinics recommend waiting to get an abortion until about the fifth or sixth week of pregnancy. At this point, the fetus has already developed nerves and can feel pain. This means that many abortions take place after the development of a baby's heart and nervous system, including the brain. The latest clinics will allow you to get an abortion is anytime before 24 weeks, but on rare occasions, some clinics allow past the 24-week mark. In the womb, by 24 weeks a baby is almost fully developed. Past the 24 week mark, all that's left for development is continuing to become stronger, and their lungs developing to become larger.
Abortion SHOULD be illegal and banned in the United States. Many people argue that rape and children that are likely to be born with development issues should be allowed to get aborted. I firmly disagree. Only about 0.5% of abortions are reasoned and blamed on rape. Rape is a sensitive topic and is a tragic crime that I am against in every way, but the child that is conceived is still human. This child still deserves to have a life just as much as you and I do. More than 25% of children are aborted just because the mother feels she isn't ready. This is why we have options, such as foster care, adoption centers, and more. Also, children that are predicted to have mental, physical, and or developmental problems deserve to live a life too. Being anti-abortion isn't selfish. It is the total opposite. Every conceived child deserves to live a life, whether it's short, long, with their biological parents, or adoptive parents. The help that some mothers need is out there. We need to open our eyes and lose the selfish mindset we humans seem to have.
Do you think abortion should be legal? Explain.
What would you do if someone asked your opinion on whether they should get an abortion or not?

Your topic choice is one that always leads to heated debate and discussion. Your title is off--abortion is legal. Also, your first sentence is off as it should say illegal instead of legal. I also think you could have expanded on the history of abortion laws in the US. Overall though, well done!
I strongly believe abortions should be legal. In recent years Poland has made steps towards banning abortions. "An October ruling by the Constitutional Court found that a 1993 law allowing abortion in cases of severe and irreversible foetal abnormalities was unconstitutional." The same page also goes on to state that "In 2019, 98% of abortions were carried out on those grounds, meaning that the ruling effectively banned the vast majority of pregnancy terminations."
The vast majoraty of people eventually try to do what is right. That's why a massive amount of protestors stayed in the streets of Warsaw.
If you truely do believe that every human deserves a life, then you should support many social services like mandatory paid maternity leave, or a minimum wage people can live off of.
I think that abortion shuld be completly illegal and should only be acceptable if having the child is a risk to the mothers well being or life. Abortion should not be a option for the mother to chose because even if the child is not fully developed the child is still a living organisum.
I personally and firmly believe that abortion should be legal until a certain point in the pregnancy. Just recently in the state of Texas, a new law took place that a person carrying a fetus-- because that is what it is. It’s a fetus, not a baby-- can't have an abortion after they've had it for 6 weeks. By the time someone even begins to think about the possibility of being pregnant, it can already be too late to have a legal abortion. You say that you do consider rape a tragedy. If someone were to get raped, they shouldn't have to keep the fetus, no matter how much of "a human" you believe it is. Many times, abortion has saved people's lives. Are you saying you care more about the life of a fetus than that of someone who has much more to live for? Another point you tried to make is that people can simply give the child up for adoption once it's been born. Both the adoption and foster care system are a system that isn't as strong and as reliable as you would think it is. In fact, in a study done by the University of California, Irvine, it is shown that being in the foster care system is bad for your health. People who are in or have been in the foster care system have a higher chance of developing mental health issues, physical health issues, behavioral issues, and much more. I will leave you with this to think about: if a 16-year-old girl can’t adopt a baby because she isn’t an adult and can’t take care of the child, then why shouldn’t she be allowed to abort a fetus? In fact, here in the state of Iowa, it is a requirement that a “husband and wife” must petition together to adopt a child. So why should two teenagers who had a one-time fling have to keep a fetus? Make it make sense.

I 100% agree with you. The foster care always gets brought up when saying you want to get a abortion, but with all the negative things that come with going there espically with the other kids there. it would make the person have very bad behavior problems and make them grow up to be a bad person. I also agree with you on how you said that if a 16 year old could not adopt a child they should not have to keep one if they are pregnant with it. Even if you were to have the kid and give them away. You would still have to go through being pregnant for 9 months and all the pain that comes with having it. Overall I think it should be the choice of the person who is having the kid.
If you don't want to go through the pain of carrying a child, then take the precautions needed.
You must always know you always have a chance of getting pregnant.
I completely agree with you. Abortions should be illegal and banned in the United States. Having a child is a blessing and not everyone gets that opportunity in life, so if you get that chance why would you take an innocent childs life away that you created. You should always be thinking of outcomes before getting yourself into that situation.
I agree, having a child IS a blessing. It is your job to be careful if you are not ready for a child.
I believe that abortion should be illegal. Not being ready is not excuse to take a childs life. If you don't want to have a child, you should have thought of that before putting yourself in that situation. There are also other options other than abortion.
I agree, it isn't a true excuse.
