Should Abortion be Considered Murder?

Is aboriton murder?

The topic whether abortion is considered murder or not has been a thourgl topic since 1973 when abortion officaly became illegal in states across the United States. Some of the United States population believed that abortion was crime, and prenatal women should not be able to pay to have doctors remove their child, while the other portion believed that whatever a women wanted to do before birth was her choice, and receiving an abortion was a womans right.

Since 1973, this topic has been dragged from left to right, and new studies have come out. New studies have showed that receiving an abortion can be extremely dangerous, and put the woman reciving the abortion’s life in danger. Other studies have shown more proof on why a female should be able to recive an abortion if she so chooses.

Personally, I believe if a woman choosingly decides to get an abortion simply just because, “she’s not ready for a kid”, or other similar reasons, I do beleive that abortion is murder within those circumstances. Not to mention, they're so many foster homes and adoption services that you could enroll your child in, instead of taking his or her life. Now, let’s say that a woman was a victim of sexual assult or rape and wanted to get an abortion, if those were the circumstances, I don’t beleive that abortion is murder because no woman should have to take pride in taking care of a child where a man foced himself on her. But, if you willingly have intercourse with a man, knowing the stakes could be having a child, I believe that you should be ready to take care of a child. Taking an innocent life away because of your actions is murder.

Allwhile I beleive that pro-life is the best choice, I know pregnancy is different for almost every woman. Some women are able to see the signs of pregnancy early on, and others it could take up to weeks to notice that you're pregnant. Allwhile I do beleive abortion is murder other than if you're taking your child's life because of a medical reason or sexual assult or rape, I beleive that it really is worse if you get an abortion after the child has been developing for 5-7 weeks.

I acknowledge the fact that it's skeptical to change a solid and hard fact based off of circumstances, but in general I would agree with the fact that abortion is murder if you willingly choose to recieve an abortion with no reasoning behind it other than simply not wanting to have a kid, ECSEPCIALLY if you recieve an abortion before the 5-7th week when features of the child begin to develop, such as their face, brain, etc...

In conclusion, even though I would agree that abortion is murder, I know everybody has their own views and opinions, as this topic expands more and more, I look forward to seeing everybody's thoughts.

What are your opinions on this topic? Should abortion be considered murder?

Do you agree with laws that the United States have put in place for abortion?

What would you like the United States to handle differently about abortion laws?

  • Interesting topic choice and well done Ariel! Great discussions with other students!

  • I belive that abortion is murder because I belive at the point of conseption a child starts to develope wich is then a living human child. I think that abortion should be completly banned unless it is risking the life of the mother to have the child. I wish that the United States would have much more strict abortion laws.

  • I feel that abortion is considered murder because if something has a heartbeat it is alive. However I feel that people should be able to do what they want, it's not my decision, I just wont agree with it. I feel that this subject is a great matter of opinion and deciding laws based is something that will create more of a debate than there already is. I do think that the laws should not vary so differently from state to state. Texas, for example, has put in place "the heartbeat bill" which is against abortion, while in Alabama they have no laws against it.

  • In my personal opinion I considered abortion as murder, but I think every women should have the opportunity to decide by herself if she wants an abortion or not. I just can't handle the way you are saying that you wouldn't consider murder if it was a sexual assault or a rape, it's the same pregnancy, the fetus would be the same and it will create the same human as if it was in any other situation. I think you aren't pro-life because you aren't defending life, you are defending the lifes that you want.

  • In my opinion, abortion is not a murder or a crime as long as fetus (baby) is alive is a some sort of murder, but not the usual one because baby is just a heartbeat with no will, no anything. I believe that people must be more aware of this issue since almost everyone has a different opinion and the flaws in the law makes it as bad as it was before.

  • I dont think abortion is murder, that baby is not alive yet. However, after a few weeks the baby does have a heart beat so then I think it murder. I dont think it should be legal before a certain time.

  • I think abortion is murder after the baby has a heartbeat at 6 weeks, I think more states should make abortion illigal from 6 weeks and on. although this would cause lots of protests and riots from democrats.

    • I agree, lots of features on the child begin to develop at the 5-7th week mark, and as the child develops, the baby would begin to feel more pain, the later the mother decides to recieve the abortion.

  • I don't think abortion is murder, it's different from actual murder where someone's being stabbed because the baby can't feel the pain because its nervous system isn't fully developed. If the woman who was pregnant got stabbed with the baby inside, then that'd be murder.  I strongly disagree with the laws that the US has put into place because how can abortion be murder when the baby didn't ask to be born, to begin with?  I believe the US should completely get rid of the abortion law.

    • I respect your opinions, but after the 5-7th week mark,  features on the baby begin to develop, such as their fingers, face, some parts of their nervous system, and most importantly, their brain, spinal cord, and heart.

I do agree with you that being stabbed would be a different type of murder.
