Teens ages 13-17, around the middle and high school age, are thriving to learn and giving them an extra class that a lot of kids might take interest in might be a great idea, taking that we must learn chemistry, which is useless unless you are going to be a chemistry teacher or a scientist. Out of everyone in the church of today 21% are teens who identify and evangelical and protestant, 24% are Catholic, 9% as mainline Protestant, 6% are members of historically Back Protestant churches, and 3% are made of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Making that 63% of teens identify as Christian.  Take an average high school in the United States for example. If you took 63% of your 400-500 student high school, you are offering at least 300+ students with an extra class that could also be loved by parents wanting to get back into the routine of making Church a bigger part of their lives. Another thing is that some smaller rural schools tend to have more Christian based students that are enrolled. Another reason that there should be a class that offers Christian based education is because of money. Private Catholic Schools can cost at a very minimum of $1,560 a year and upwards of $32,900. However, in public schools, school is free except for a couple small supplies cost.

Do you think there should be a class or group that offers a religious class based on your school’s religion? If so, why?

  • Great topic choice Jared! I would like to see you look at laws that might prevent this from happening. Glad you got this posted but it is quite late. You also didn't reply to any student comments.

  • I do not think that there should be a class about a specific religion. I think that if a school were to offer a class on a religion they would have to offer a class on every religion. There are too many religions and not enough resources; it would just not be possible.

  • I do not think that there should be a class or group that offers a religious class because there are too many religions. If you want to learn about your religion than you can simply just go to the church of your choice that teaches it.

  • I don't think religion should be taught at school because most people are already in a church. If someone is catholic, he could visit a catholic school and learn more about his religion. Also, there is so many different religions.

  • I don't think that being taught a religon should be a part of public school. For example, if someone who is Catholic wanted to learn about their religon in school, they could just attend a private Catholic school.

  • I do not think there should be one. Only because of different rules, and it would be difficult to get to all the students. there is so many differnt religions. So no, I do not agree with this.

  • I don't have an opinion on wether or not they should have a religious class I think that maybe they should for the people that want it but also I think that there should be enough people that would want it before a school should have a class like that.

  • Im not sure if there should be a religion class in the school just because there are many students with different religions and it would be difficult to accompany all of the students. And if they cant do all religions then there shouldnt be any.

  • I think that there should be a religious class option for all the christian students out there that dont have the money to go to private schools. It is a good class and should be added to every school.

  • I don't think religion class should be a thing. There is a lot of religions so I feel like picking the one to teach would be the issue. I also think that church classes on sunday or on wednesdays is for teaching people about religion. I feel that if you want to learn about your religion, go to a church that teaches it.
