Should 16 year old's get the covid-19 vaccine?

Pfizer has allowed 16 year olds to be able to get the covid 19 vaccine. I dont think kids that young should get or even need to get the vaccine. There isnt enough proof that the shots are safe or effective for kids. If teens get covid they more than likely would have no severe symptoms other than feeling like they have the flu. We dont know the long term effects of the covid vaccine. There is no proven evidence that the vaccine causes infertility but we also dont know the long term effects and the question has been asked often so why take the chance?

I think its better for young people to actually get covid and help to build immunity against the virus. They would have to be sure to quarantine if they did get covid so not to affect the older people.

Until the long term effects of the vaccine are known i dont think kids should get vaccinated. Right now the vaccine is still being used as an emergency vaccine. The number of cases is dropping fast. I think its best to vaccinate the older people and the high risk people now and let the young ones get their own immunity by getting covid until we know how the vaccine might affect us.

  • Good job Tytan! Huge improvement from last time! Great topic choice and your summary is well done. Be sure to provide sources to back up facts that you mention and you should have also replied more frequenlty as well.

  • I think that 16 year olds should get the vaccine after adults, elders, and people with pre-exsisting conditions get it. 16 year olds are obviously have less risk of getting COVID, so they should be after them. I don't think the vaccine will be harmful. If none of them have been for any adults, then it shouldn't be a problem for younger people.

  • I think it should be the 16 year olds choice if they want to get the vaccine or not. If I had a choice to get it I probably wouldn't get it because I am young and still have a good immune system. I think that some side affects down the road are still unknown.

  • If 16 year olds or older want to get the vaccine I think that they should get it. Personally, I think that the older or people with health concerns should get them first, but after that whoever wants on can get one. I don't think the vaccine is harmful to 16 year olds.

  • I feel as it should be a choice to get it because we are so young that we don't know how it will react to us. Being that I will 16 in a few months I will not be getting the vaccine because I don't feel I need it and I also feel I am better off without it.

  • Personally if they open it up for under 16 I will not get it because I don't know enough about it and it was developed very quickly. it may be harmful for 16 year olds and we just haven't done enough testing. And why is 16 the cut off? what so different about being 15 or 17?

  • I think is up to the kid itself. They should be aware of the decission they are making and the consequences. 16 year olds have many responsabilities and they are able to make decissions. If they want to get the vaccine they should its all up to them.

  • I will be 16 in the next few months and if I was going to be given the chance to get the vaccine I would say no. People can do what they want but I would not want it. I think it is too early to give it to the younger people not enough research has been done. Some people will say they have but doing research on a rat is not same a human. So in the end I would give my shot to someone else who wants/ needs it.

  • I will have the opportunity to get the vaccine as a health care worker in the next few months, and I think I am going to take it. 16-17-year-olds aren't just kids living in dark holes waiting until their 18 to go out and get jobs that require a lot of work and consideration, I for one am a dietary aide at Elm Crest and I am constantly in close contact with immune-compromised residents and the food that they eat. There is a lot of protocol and precaution you have to take in and every week I'm getting two covid tests. 16-year-olds aren't dumb. They can make decisions for themselves and work in environments that could seriously cause damage if covid was spread, so I think that they should be allowed to get the vaccine.

  • I do not necessarily think that 16 year olds should get the vaccine. I think that it needs to go to people who are at high-risk in getting COVID. If a 16 year old fits into the high-risk people, then they should be able to get the vaccine. I think that it is different for every situation. I do not know if the vaccine is harmful to 16 year olds. I think down the road we could face some side effects.
