Last week Sean Spicer called his staff into his office to examine both their personal and government issued phones to check them for any signs of leaking information out to the press. With Spicer's frustrations growing he asked for no information about the meeting to be leaked either. Making sure to remind them that the use of encrypted messaging apps was against the Federal Records Act. Trump's frustration is also growing on the matter leading the white house in attempting to increase their security measures. The information about Mike Debukes appointment as White House Communications Director being leaked started Spicer's attempt to break down on these leaks.

Would you have shown Spicer your phone if you were called into his office?

I would because I know it would be against the FRA to be sharing information like this with the press and I don't find that very more important then my job.

Why do you think that people would leak this information to begin with?

I believe they are gaining something out of this whether they are getting paid or not I couldn't say. Otherwise I couldn't see them just going out of their way and risking their job to leak info out to the press.

  • Well done Mavrick!

  • I would have if I had nothing to hide. I think that they would leak it because they don't like Trump and are going to try to bring him down.

  • I think that leaks within the White House are very important. Even if the leak was about something "unimportant" what if something very important was leaked. If you are in those rooms in the White House, you can't be doing anything like that. I would have given my phone up for inspection for sure. You don't mess around when you're that high up in the White House.

  • If I were in this situation, for the sake of my job, I would have to show him my phone. It does seem to be a bit unconstitutional and an intrusion of your rights, but by not showing him you're only becoming far more suspicious. As former President George W. Bush said, "the press's job is to release information to the public and the president's job is to make headlines for the press.” The people who are leaking this information only want the public to be informed.

  • 'i would show him to try and get my name cleared up so I can keep my job. Some people look to sabotage so the leak information about something or someone to the press.

  • Probably not unless it was the last resort. I guess it just depends if I had leaked the info or not. Because they don't agree with trump or don't like him. They also may be getting money out of the deal.

  • Yes if i knew i didn't get in trouble i would show my phone to him! I think this just goes back to they don't like Donald Trump so they are purposely trying to get this out there so that he will get in trouble and wont have to be our president!

  • Yes, I would let them look at my phone only because I wouldn't want anything being leaked either. I feel they would leak the info for attention or to start stuff.

  • yes, I would have shown my phone because I wouldn't need to be afraid of what he would find. I feel like the people leaking information are trying to bring down trump on any charge they can find. This is not okay because I feel like they are not only betraying the presidents trust but are also destroying the country's trust as well.

  • Well obviously if you don't let them check your phone you are going to look suspicious because it will look like you are hiding something. Honestly in situations like this everyone finds out the information somehow so I would just come clean now.
