Schools in Spain

Well, im Jose Marques and im gonna write about the schools in spain since I think it is something quite interesting, and that it can help people to know a little more about other cultures.

The first difference that I noticed when I entered the school is that there are no windows in any class, on the other hand in Spain there are 2 or 3 in each class. Another difference that impacted me the most is that in the classes, they let you eat and drink without problem, on the other hand in Spain you can't even drink water during class because they scold you, I dont know the reason but is like that.

Regarding clothing, there is a big difference, since here people do not get ready to go to high school, that is, your appearance does not matter much, but in Spain every time you go to school you have to be well dressed since it is not well seen go in sportswear.

And finally, I think it is one of the best in the United States, and it is the educational system. For me the educational system in Spain is very bad, since they give you exams every 2 days, and in these exams you only memorize and put the information there, even if you forget later. There are no projects or group exams, nor are there subjects such as food. One of the things I like the most in school is Study Hall, since it helps a lot not to go home with homework and I think it's very good.

In conclusion, if I had to stay with a school it would be the one in the United States, for the many reasons I have listed above, I hope this has helped so that a little more is known about Spain

  • I think it's neat to hear about the big differences between the U.S. educational system and the one in Spain. I believe we have a good system here, especially hearing about how laid back as we (in the United States) are. With regards to dress code and being permitted to eat, I think that the United States is in the right with being relaxed. Eating and dressing comfortably will not hinder class; I believe it will actually benefit students. Students can preform better if they feel comfortable and are not hungry.

  • This is very interesting on how strict they are in spain and that you get tested so often it would be hard to retain almost any information in that amount of time. And I can see how it would be eye opening to you Jose to come to United states and see how our living and schooling is.

  • I've always found it interesting to spot differences between the education systems of america and other countries. I'm glad that you enjoy the school here. I would have to say though, I feel like the scenery in spain is much better than it is here, and you get windows to enjoy the scenery. It sucks that you can't fully experience everything because of covid but you've been able to see the postitives and thats nice. In spain do they have the same grade sysem? freshmen, sophomore, etc.?

  • I am glad that you like it here and are enjoying school. I never really thought about the difference in school until now. It's crazy how different things work. Its nice to know what you think of it here because this is all normal to me, unlike you. I also could never do the whole taking tests every other day, so I am glad that we do not to that here.

  • I'm glad someone here likes going to school. As different as you compare the 2 schools its intresting to see how you see our school.  I'm glad that I don't go to school in Spain because I couldn't handle the exams all the time and dressing semi nice because I dress like a slob everyday 😂

  • Im glad that you like our school better than spains. If I were you I would love to be able to wear what I wanted everyday. Also I like to have woods and metals in our school, that is a very fun and excting thing to learn about.

  • I'm definitely happy we get to choose whether we want to dress sportslike, comfy, or any other way not just super nice. Also about the being allowed to drink and somtimes eat certain things in class. However, thats not the case for every school here in the US. I say that cause this is the third school i've been to and each one is different. The last school i was in you could not eat anything in class and could only drink water, no pop or tea or anything. My first school though it depended on the teacher. And you didnt have to dress super nice in either but it was highly encouraged amony other teachers and classmates as well. Last thing about that is there was a lot of windows in both schools. Especially in the school i was in before here, there were at least a whole wall full of windows in each room.

  • i think its pretty nice that you like this school since you can just wear anything but it has to be school appropriate and i think its kind of dumb that you cant drink water in class but here everybody drinks water or just some other type of drink. and having to dress nice to go to school is kind of lame

  • It is very interesting how different countries have such drastically different school systems. I take for granted the luxuries that our school sometimes provides us compared to other schools in other countries that are very difficult or have lower income. based off of your description, I would prefer our US school system compared to the Spain school system. Because we almost have it more relaxed like w still learn but it's at a steady pace.

  • I'm glad that you like our school better. I like that we don't have to be dressed well to go to school everyday. Some people don't care about their appearance at school and I think that its just fine. Also, I like how we can have food because most of the school lunch isn't good.
