School uniforms have many pros and cons. Some pros are that they can increase student focus. Studies say that when students dont have something nice on, nothing to notice or comment on, they spend more of that energy on learning and focusing in class. They can "Promote safety" inside and outside of school. Studies also say that having school uniforms make them blend in and not having to worry about being a target for "gang-involved people". One more pro is they can break down class barriers between students. When students wear uniforms, it eliminates who looks rich and who looks poor. When students dont wear school uniforms it makes the most and least economic privileged students easier to spot.
The cons of having school uniforms are they can be expensive for parents than actually clothing. Uniforms can also be hard to shop for and hard to find. Uniforms can decrease self-expression. Teenagers should be able to express their emotions, tastes in music, pericings, fashion, art, and hair. Schools are tough on kids, they take away their freedom to really express who they are. Another con of uniforms are that they can be sexist. Some schools require for girls to only wear dresses, skirts and no pants. Most students are still unaware of their gender so it makes it harder for them to express who they are.
I believe students should be able to express who they really are without a school uniform. At my old school we had to wear uniforms and the dress code was strict. Blue,white, or red button up shirts. Red, blue, white,black or brown belt with khaki pants. We couldn't zip up our jackets, and couldn't wear hoodies. Our shoes had to have backs on them, and we couldnt wear open toed shoes.

I don't believe that school uniforms should be a thing. It doesn't let the students be who they want to be. I know someone that has to wear a school uniform and she despises it. She says that it makes her uncomfortable and she just wants to be able to wear what she wants to.
I agree, having to wear a uniform for 8 hours is uncomfortable.
I have mixed feelings on school uniforms because it would lessen bullying and it would also make the school as one, and show that they work together as a team. I don't think it would be a good idea because it isn't letting the students be themselves and express themselves as they should be able to.
I personally don't think that school uniforms should be a thing but sometimes I do. Sometimes I think that school uniforms should be a thing because of the very odd things that kids wear to school like dog collars. Kids should be allowed to express themselves but they shouldn't be allowed to wear a dog collar or anything not normal.
I strongly agree, students shouldnt be able to wear dog collars, or elf ears. Yeah when they wear those things, they're expressing themself but its really overboard.
I don't think school uniforms should be allowed. It's forcing kids to do something they don't want to. Every kid knows what gender they are and that is Male/Female so I don't think saying girls wearing a skirt is forcing them to be a certain gender, you are either Male or Female so that point really is not valid. No one should wear uniforms because no one wants to wear those types of clothes and students should be free on what to wear.
I do agree that theres only two genders, but alot of students like to change their gender, and yes i believe that it isnt valid. Most girls that want to be a male dont want to wear skirts or dresses but the schools would force them too. And I do believe that nobody should wear uniforms either and should be free to wear whatever they want.
I believe that school uniforms are not needed in public schools especially, but also in private schools. We have dress codes so the problem is wearing inappropriate stuff. I believe it's not fair for some people to have to wear one outfit like everyone else when it may be not as flattering on them.
I don't think school uniforms should be used. I think students should be able to wear what they want. I believe it is important for people to express themselves, and fashion is a great way to do that. Students should not be forced to wear certain clothes.
