School uniforms have many pros and cons. Some pros are that they can increase student focus. Studies say that when students dont have something nice on, nothing to notice or comment on, they spend more of that energy on learning and focusing in class. They can "Promote safety" inside and outside of school. Studies also say that having school uniforms make them blend in and not having to worry about being a target for "gang-involved people". One more pro is they can break down class barriers between students. When students wear uniforms, it eliminates who looks rich and who looks poor. When students dont wear school uniforms it makes the most and least economic privileged students easier to spot.
The cons of having school uniforms are they can be expensive for parents than actually clothing. Uniforms can also be hard to shop for and hard to find. Uniforms can decrease self-expression. Teenagers should be able to express their emotions, tastes in music, pericings, fashion, art, and hair. Schools are tough on kids, they take away their freedom to really express who they are. Another con of uniforms are that they can be sexist. Some schools require for girls to only wear dresses, skirts and no pants. Most students are still unaware of their gender so it makes it harder for them to express who they are.
I believe students should be able to express who they really are without a school uniform. At my old school we had to wear uniforms and the dress code was strict. Blue,white, or red button up shirts. Red, blue, white,black or brown belt with khaki pants. We couldn't zip up our jackets, and couldn't wear hoodies. Our shoes had to have backs on them, and we couldnt wear open toed shoes.

I don't think school uniforms should be a thing because than we would all just look the same and it would make it even more boring in school. and when you wear what you want you can express how you feel but I think we need to stop some certain kids from expressing certain things.
I think that if you are going to a private school or something it makes a little more sense for someone to wear a uniform because they have higher standards, but other than that I don't think that they should be a thing.

I don't think school uniforms should be used. I think students should be able to wear what they want. I believe it is important for people to express themselves, and fashion is a great way to do that. Students should not be forced to wear certain clothes.

I think that students should have their own options on what to wear. I also think that most students wouldn't have the money and time to make sure they had uniforms to match everyone else at their school.

i do not think that school uniforms should be a thing. I do not think we need them because it is not like you are going to a job or something. I think they are kind of pointless and they do not help accomplish anything. I think they should get rid of school uniforms.
I do think we should have uniforms. First reason, It makes picking out an outfit for school so much easier. Second, dress code. Half the people at our school don't follow dress code and don't get in trouble for it. Some other people do get in trouble for it and its just not fair to the people getting in trouble for it when the other girls are wearing the same or worse things and not getting in trouble for it. I think having a school uniform would solve that problem.
I disagree and agree. It would help with dresscode and that is a problem in our school. Yeah having a school uniform would fix that. But would we really want to wear the same thing everyday?
I think an individual can make the decision on whether or not they go to a school that requires a uniform. I can see how school uniforms could be beneficial, but I wouldn't ever want to go to a school that requires them. Personally, I like to wear what I want when i'm going somewhere all day every day. When wearing school uniforms, you can't be as comfortable.
