Evidence claims that the first school uniform got introduced in 1212,in England. These students were required to wear a robe-like outfit called a ‘Cappa clausa’. Only 12% of US schools require uniforms. This data was collected through a survey conducted in the year 2020. Many students and parents find it beneficial to wear school uniforms. On the other hand, some people find it useless, and not worth the battle it could create. The reason that some people find it beneficial is they feel it creates better learning experiences. The National Association of Secondary School Principals states in a meeting that, “When all students are wearing the same outfit, they are less concerned about how they look and how they fit in with their peers; thus, they can concentrate on their schoolwork”(Chris). Wearing uniforms can also be a relief to parents/guardians. The child doesn’t have to worry about what to wear, what to buy, and what clothes are most popular. It is healthy for a student's brain to not have to stress about their next day's outfit is perfect. It also is nice for those who cannot afford name-brand clothing. Lastly, it creates an equal environment of everyone coming together as one and feeling equal. While many people find it beneficial to require uniforms, others find it unhelpful. This opinion claims that it is hard for students to express themselves through clothing when they are forced to wear the same things.
Although some people find it helps kids feel like one, the opposite argument believes that it is a bad idea to create such a conformed environment. It doesn’t allow the students to feel different and unique from everyone else. Another problem schools face when trying to require a uniform is the students who oppose the dress code. Usually, these students make it clear they don’t like the rule. They do this by going against the code and wearing anything but what is required. This causes problems within the school with staff, students, and families.
In the end, I don’t feel strongly about one side of the argument more than the other. I think I lean more towards non-uniform though. I think that every person and every student deserves the right to express themselves, and dress in their way. I think that students that are required to wear the same thing every day seem to get bland. It has no fun involved and only causes frustration. Although I don’t think they are necessary, I do understand where schools come from when requiring them. Especially for the less fortunate who are embarrassed by what they wear compared to others.
Do you think our school should require uniforms?
Why or why not?
Do you think it does any good?

I don't think our schools should require uniforms. I think students should be allowed to wear whatever they want, with a few exceptions. Although I don't think they should ask for it, school uniforms would prevent the dress code. School uniforms have a few advantages, but I don't think they should be mandatory. Freedom of clothing I guess.
No I dont think we should wear school unifroms because it would be boring and uncomfortable. I just think wearing your own clothes is a good thing, but I guess if you cant afford clothes this idea would be in your favor.
I think that we should not require unifroms because we should be able to wear what we want. I think that students should wear what they want but it needs to fit the dress code. A lot of families would not want to have required dress codes because most of the time you only get a few outfits.
I don't think our school shpuld require uniforms at all. I feel as if thats more of a private school thing but we are a public school and should be able to wear what we want. It would help with people getting dresscoded, but I feel as dresscode is dumb sometimes anyway. It's hard for girls to even buy clothes anymore that cover everything.
I don't think that our school district should require uniforms. I understand the perspective that uniforms could solve the concern of students wearing, "street clothes", to school, but honestly to me, as long as the clothes a student wears is appropraite, dress codes simply just don't exist. I don't think uniforms teach students anything really.
I see both sides. School uniforms would take out a lot of issues that come with "street wear" clothes. Although I think I would hate it. Dressing how we want is how we express ourselves and we should be allowed to wear comfortable clothing.
I think school uniforms are a good idea, but I also wouldn't like it. I think that it cause a lot less drama with who's wearing what. Everyone would have the same thing on or be dressed a lot. There would be less dress coding problems and less judging people.
I think that both sides of the argument are fair. However, I am on the non unifrom side. Allowing kids to wear what they want, allows them to be more creative. I think it would be boring if everyone wore the same outfit every single day. I like how everyone wears different things. It's more colorful and appealing.
I do not think that schools should require uniforms I feel that they are not as comfortable as everyday clothes that kids wear. I would like to choose what I wear instead of having to wear wierd pants or a skirt. I do not think it does any good because it kind of isn't showing a childs personality if you think about it because sometimes clothes is how someone expressess themselves.
I do not believe that school uniforms should be required. Being able to dress differently is what makes us unique. I also believe that it would be more of a distraction than good. Personally, I am not a fan of dressing up so I would not enjoy dressing up all day everyday.
