School bus versus city transport bus

In Baltimore six are dead when a school bus hit a city transport bus at 6:30 am on Tuesday morning. It is said that no kids were on the school bus. They have shut down the traffic in the area that the accident happened in.  They are in the process of finding out who is injured but ten people were in fact injured. They don't know which school the school bus is from because it doesn't have any markings on it. The spokeswoman for the Baltimore schools stated that the school bus is indeed one used for the city school system but hasn't said which school it belonged to. Police are also saying that a ford mustang, found over a block away near a large skid mark, is part of the bus collision.

UPDATE: (Nov. 2nd, 2016, 8:31 pm)

The driver of the school bus didn't have the right license to drive the vehicle. He had his charter drivers license revoked because of multiple assault convictions, violating protection orders, and vehicle registration violations. It was revoked last year!

Glenn Chappell, 67, was the driver of the bus that rear ended the Ford Mustang and then struck a concrete pillar. Then the school bus continued into the transport bus.

1. What do you think might have caused the crash?

2. Based on the picture how do you think the school bus hit the city transport bus?

I think that the crash may have happened because the driver was not stable to drive or that something was messed up with the school bus. Maybe the brakes weren't working or the driver had passed out at the wheel. Based on the picture the bus had to be coming in at an angle so maybe it didn't stop at a sign and hit the side of the commuter bus.

  • Great job Cassie! Loved that you updated your story!

  • Multiple things could of been the cause, health of drivers, bus malfunction, or even a simple little distraction. Something could of been in the road, where the driver didn't want to keep on going.

  • I think that one of the drivers were distracted or that someone pulled out in front causing them to swerve. Looking at these pictures I personally think that the bus might have swerved into the other one. I hope that this certain accident wasn't on purpose.

  • One of the bus drivers might have been distracted by the passengers.

It looks like the school bus driver lost control but I aint no expert

  • I want to assume that this accident didnt occur with bad intentions but with more uncontrollable reasons. Really anything could be the fault for this incident occuring, but there isnt any real evidence to give a real reason so its hard to tell what caused this to happen. I feel as though the school bus just spun out of control and swerved right into the side of the transfer bus.

    • I think that everyone wants it to not be out of bad intentions and I don't think that it was. Maybe something caused the school bus to lose control.

  • Maybe the bus driver was trying to avoid a collision with another car or something else and he accidentally hit the city bus instead. But how you already said it could also have happened because something was wrong with the school bus, like the brakes we not working; or they collided because one of them was not paying attention. I think we should be glad though that nobody we knew of died and that no children were in the school bus to the time the crash happened.

    • It is very lucky that there were no children on the school bus. Maybe he was trying to avoid something but went into the transport bus instead.

  • The Driver probably was not watching the road or something and swerved into the other bus. Thats what it looks like anyway.

  • I think that maybe the driver wasn't paying attention and hit the other bus. It looks as though it  cross over traffic lines and hit the bus.
