scamer's ultimate prey

david stopher, 59, had just suffered a serious stroke that changed his personality. one of these changes was lack of the ability to tell people no. while most people find it amusing, they usually wouldnt take advantage of it. or would they? not long after he recovered, he got a call from a phone company wanting to sell him a contract. since he obviously couldnt say no to that, the man on the other end decided to tell his collegues of his easy prey, and eventually spread to other phone companies. poor david ended up paying for ten phone contracts monthly and ended up $2,700 in debt.

  • that is beyond mean! People take advantage of a person with a "medical issue" who can't say no.
  • oh my gosh that is a lot of money. not being able to say no will become a problem soon enough
  • Ok first off the guy is stupid and I'm pretty sure this is fake I agree with Austin
  • Ironic. I literally just watched Yes Man on tv. It would be incredibly cruel to take advantage of a person that you know will always answer yes, but it's only realistic that people in today's society would do so. How exactly does it happen that you can't say no? I know he had a stroke, but someone could still teach him how to say no.
    • haha i love that movie! im not exactly sure on the science of how it works and everything though...maybe he secretly took the pledge never to say no..idk haha:)
  • i feel sorry for him
  • This is terrible! who could do that to this guy? :(
  • That's really sad. Couldn't the police or someone do something to help the guy get everything sorted out? I mean that's really unfair and those phone companies shouldn't have taken advantage of him like that.
  • I would think that he would be able to hang up the phone, because then he wouldn't have to say no but wouldn't have to get the phones. The person who told other people about him is very selfish and mean. I hope everything gets worked out with the sales people.
  • I can't believe phone companies would be that cold hearted to do that to a man who could of lost his life by a stroke.
