Saudi Arabian King Helps 1,345lb man

King Adbullah of Saudi Arabia ordered Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari a 1,345lb man to be brought to the country's capital Riyadh to undergo treatment to help him go down to a healthy weight. What do you think it would be like to live as a 1,345lb person? Would you try to lose all of your weight or keep it and live as long as you could?

  • Good choice of topics Conner! You could have told your thoughts as well in your summary. I also thought you could reply to more people's comments, especially in this post.

  • At a certain point i would've got help earlier. I don't see how anyone in their right mind would just let that happen to themselves. I couldn't live with my self if I could move under my own power.

  • This is just crazy. I don't stand how you could do anything being that big. It has to be so hard for someone like that to lose weight, and exercise. I think it is great that he is getting help.

  • I was reading below on what you said about him doing it to break a world record, that is just sad. I think people need to have motivation, and the people that do have motivation need to put it into something important. I think life would be just awful living at such an unhealthy weight. Having to rely on so many other people to do things for you, that just doesn't sound like something I would want.

  • 1,345 pounds is a lot of weight to carry around! I'm glad King Adbullah is helping him. I think our government should help with our bigger people. But weight loss surgery wouldn't help him I don't think. He would just go back to his lifestyle and keep gaining weight. I'm not sure why anyone would want to be that big. If you were to break a record, why one as bad as that? Being too heavy is a serious health problem.

    • I surprised his body could function when he is that big... I don't mean to sound mean im just saying it has to work hard enough imagine how hard it would have to work if you were 1,345 pounds.

  • People would be feeding me and I could not watch TV. I couldn't move anything. I would do anything to lose 1,200 pounds in body fat. Do you know how many people would make fun of him because of how bad he let himself go. And he could do nothing about it and if he had children, they would not call him their father anymore because they are also getting picked.

  • That's really nice that he helped him like that!  But honestly If I was 1,345 lbs. I would think that I was to far gone and that no matter how much I exercise it wouldn't help enough to get me down to a normal weight.

  • While I'm glad they are helping this man out, I don't understand how he could get to this point and weigh 1,345 lb. I can't even imagine what it would be like. If I were in the man's situation I would definitely try to lose the weight, rather that be over a thousand pounds for the rest of my life.

  • I think that it is a good thing that King Abdullah is trying to help this man. However I don't think one surgery would return Shaari to healthy weight. On average people only lose 120lbs in a weight loss surgery. No doubt the surgery would help but it is going to be a much longer road to healthy weight than just one surgery. Now to the questions; I think that it would be very hard and frustrating to weigh that much. You would not be able to work move or even bath yourself, the only thing that you are able to do is eat, sleep, and watch TV which would be terrible. I think that I would try to lose all the weight that I could and try to regain a healthy and normal lifestyle.
