In N.J a RV backfired, teachers thought the sound was gun shots so the school went into lock down read the rest of the story here:

ha maybe the teacher should find out for sure if it was a gun shot. At least the kids didnt do homework or school work that day.

That is funny that it was just a RV that made the noise, but if it was a gun it would have been a good idea to close the school.

At least they were somewhat ready if it actually was gun shots. Better to be safe than sorry.

I can see why they did that, trying to keep the kids safe and all that, but theres a difference between a pile of fecal matter RV and a firearm.

well...at least people now know that the school cares. Thats really cautios. kinda funny though too.
