Russian polar bear spray-painted with 'T-34'

On December 4th in the Chukotka region, Sergey Kavry caught on video a russian polar bear spray painted with the letters and numbers T-34 on its side he obtained this video from a helicopter. A “T-34” was a very famous and dominant soviet tank in WW2. Sergey Kavry works at the World Wildlife Fund in Russia and he states that “He won't be able to hunt unnoticed.” This Video captured by Sergey Kavry has sparked outrage in the wildlife communities across the world. The russian government is trying to find out who is responsible for spray painting the polar bear. Much evidence shows that this occurred in a remote town of Novaya Zemlya archipelago where earlier this month was invaded by over 50 polar bears. This remote town could have done this as a way to protest the russian govement.

Qustions:

1. How would you react to seeing an animal affected by spray paint in the wild?

2. If your town was invaded by 50 polar bears how would you react and why?

  • Good job overall. You should have commented about 21 times with 7 pages of comments.

  • If my town was invaded by over 50 polar bears, I think I would stay inside in order to try to stay safe from the polar bears. Then, I would contact the police to make sure there was something being done about it. If the police couldn't help then I would stay inside.

  • I believe that if I saw an animal spray painted I would be quick to call someone who could help. The paint probably won't hurt the animal in any way, but it should still be looked into. Additionally, if someone's willing to paint the creature they're probably willing to do other terrible things to the animal

  • I would be confused because I don't know why someone would think it was cool or right to spray paint an animal that is wild. I would probably stay inside for as long as I can or just try and get around the bears because I wouldn't want them to eat me.

    • Yeah I agree it would be pretty cruel for someone to complete such a task as to spray paint a polar bear. I would guess if fifty bears were to invade Iowa that the government would probably send in military aid for food and to make sure no one gets eaten by a polar bear.

  • I would be pretty shocked and confused to why a person would spray paint an animal for fun it makes no sense and I would have no idea what to do if I saw this in the wild probelly walk away or try to clean it without getting bit. I would be very scared and hide in my house with a gun to protect my slef and my family so we dont get hurt.

  • If I saw a spray-painted polar bear I would be happy because spray-paint could possibly kill them or it could make them really sick if it got into there skin but I'm not sure about it killing them or making them sick. If my town was invaded by polar bears I would want to go outside and pet them because I love animals and polar bears are just rally cute in general even if they are mean.

  • I would report it to the DNR so that they can find out how it happened. I would be mad because they don't deserve to be treated like that by people. I would be scared and hide in my house because I would not be able to stand polar bears just wondering the town.

  • Good job!

    • Thanks Zane
