Russia "threaten" by US troop build up in Europe

Russia Has stated that sending thousands of troops to Europe as part of the continuous troop rotation threatens their security. When Dmitri Peskov was asked about US and NATO soldiers in Poland He respond with "We see it as a threat to us. This is an action that threatens our interests, our security and moreover this is the third nation that is increasing it's military presence near our borders." Earlier last week 4,000 US troops were sent to Germany as part of troop rotations that are meant to send a clear message to Russia. The Pentagon Spokesman ,Capt. Jeff Davis, said "Russia, as you know with their incursion in Ukraine, [is] something that has a lot of our allies and partners concerned." The US is going to disperse 2,400 troops across Europe for training and exercises with European soldiers.

1. How would you feel as a Russian if you knew this was occurring?

2. Do you think We are going a bit overboard with sending these troops into Europe? If so, please care to explain?

My Opinion:

Honestly I would care about how the US sends troops into Europe as a part of their rotations since like any normal person I'd be more focused on what I need to do right now then that. While sending troops into Europe for training isn't bad but sending this much is honestly not even close to overboard for me so I don't think we should stop immediately but probably in the next 2-3 years we might start to teetered between overboard and not.

  • It would be alarming, having soldiers appearing by the border. I think that we should train in our own country, especially if it's viewed as a threat to do so in another country.

  • If I was a Russian I would feel very threatened because I would not like having troops from another country that close. I believe that it might be a good idea that way we have troops all over the world to protect ourselves and our allies.

  • If I was Russian I would feel a little threatened because people tend to get frighted when there is troops in their area. But on the other hand I would not feel threatened because we are Allies and America likes to keep piece unless they are attacked.  I do not think we are going over board because it is just for training with European troops and not to fight.

    • I see but I might need to clear something up they aren't patrolling the streets as stated in your comment  but rather they are being sent for troop rotations and sending them for training within the camps. Also if you read the full story somewhere it says that they're near the border. but I can agree with the comment on the most part, but sorry for making you think the troops patrol on the street.

  • It would certainly put me on edge, knowing that multiple countries were moving troops near their borders. No, it is a security precaution. I think it is a good idea because if something were to happen we would have troops nearby to respond.

  • I would feel the same as if Russian soldiers were out in American streets paroling--As a citizen, I would feel afraid because it is a foreign soldier out walking around and I have no idea if he will kill me or if he is trying to protect me. Also, since Europe and America haven't been the best of friends in the past, I would be scared out of my mind. I think that if America is not in charge of the world, the world is unsafe, so if we think Europe needs troops over there, there needs to be troops.
