During the presidential debate wed. Mitt Romney was quoted as saying, "I'm sorry Jim (debate moderator) I'm going to stop subsidy to PBS. I"m going to stop other things, I like PBS, I like Big Bird, I actually like you too." The twitter community was aflame after that happened. Twitter spokeswoman Rachael Horwitz says the debate was the most tweeted about political event in U.S. history. The Sesame Workshop tweeted in response, "We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization. We do not comment on campaigns, but we’re happy we can all agree that everyone likes Big Bird!" What do you all think about this. Do you think stopping government support of PBS is a good thing? Why? what do you think of Sesame Workshops response to the controversy?

I think it would hurt kids and parents if Seasame Street was cut, because Seasame Street actually does teach kids things, and is very educational. I think if a kid benifits from a cartoon that teaches things, rather than a cartoon that doesn't, I think the cartoon shouldn't be cut.
What are little kids going to watch that's educational with out sesame street. If he gets elected and takes out PBS the young kids are going to be dumb and lost for four years.
i used to watch PBS when i was little and so did my brother. if nothing else is on tv ill end up watching it so i think it needs to stay!
Not Big Bird PBS is amazing if that network ever ends im done :(
Well if it would help save some money that we need very badly, i think we should stop it. On the other hand, it is a lot of jobs that are being taken away if they do cancel it.
I dont think its a good thing, because a lot of little kids learn things from shows on that channel. Also a lot of people watch shows on those channels if they don't have cable, dish, or direct tv, etc. I hope they would keep pbs.
Well it is a very well debated subject because although it sounds ridiculous is a very good point that romney should be focasing more on helping us which in a way IS helping us but I think the hillarious commercial that almost looks like a fake joke probally didn't help Obama.
I would not cut it completely! Many kids love the PBS channel! I know when I was a kid I loved it! It actually really does help kids learn in some way!
Well, i think it is funny that the subject of weather or not to keep big bird is a presidential subject.
only in America.
I agree with Evan, that show is pretty freaking sweet.
