Rescued Chimp Gets a BFF

Terry the Chimp has finally been reunited with another of his kind! Terry had spent 20 years alone in the Las Vegas Zoo until he was finally rescued by the Save the Chimps sanctuary in September of 2013. When Terry was let back into his exhibit he met another chimp named Jeannie. They immediately clicked and became best friends and were inseparable. THEY EVEN HUGGED! Terry and Jeannie's introduction was caught on camera and is now circling social media. The two are said to never be apart, even when they sleep! Terry grabs ahold of Jeannie's hand while they rest. According to experts, the most important thing for chimps besides the basics is social interaction. Terry has been described as sweet and gentlemanly. While Jeannie on the other hand, has been described as caring, affectionate, and motherly. Hopefully these two get to live a long life together!

Questions:

1. If you were part of the Save the Chimps organization, how would you react to this new relationship between the chimps?

2. Would you ever consider being apart of the Save the Chimps organization or even being a zookeeper?

My opinion:

I think I would enjoy being part of the Save the Chimps organization just because I love animals (especially monkeys, gorillas, chimps, and orangutans). I think if anyone should ever be a zookeeper, they truly have to have a deep passion and love for animals. I don't think I could ever be a full time zookeeper because it isn't a passion of mine, but I think the job in general sounds like fun.

  • Great summary but you didn't reply to anyone.

  • I would be very happy with their relationship and I would feel good about the decision that was made. It is always good to see animals get along. Especially when they get along so well like in this case.

I think that it might be a fun job to be a zookeeper. It would also bring some challenges because its not like there is a lot of zoos around here to work at. I just don't think it would be a very good job that would work for me though.

  • it be cool that the chips have developed such  deep connection with people its awesome

ya sounds like a job that i would enjoy doing

  • I would be happy for them because you could be happy with yourself for helping the species. I would not consider being part of it because of the time you would have to put in to make it worth while. I do not feel I would have enough time to put it into the organization.

  • I think it sounds fun being apart of this organization, but I am not sure it would be something for me to do. I think it is great that the two are friends.

  • I would think it was cute and I'd be glad they got along. No I would not because I feel bad for them.

  • I would love to be a part of this organization because I have a soft heart for animals. I think that this a very predictable outcome because if any monkey was left alone for that long, it would really want some attention or love once it was given the chance.

  • If I was part of the Save the Chimps organization, I would be very happy and great-full that it worked out so well! It sounds like it is very sweet, and cute. I think zoo keepers and the organization are a very cool thing, but are definitely more for people who really love all types of animals or in the organization's case chimps. I like animals, but I wouldn't be the greatest candidate because I like just going to see the animals, not spending everyday devoted to it.

  • I don't understand why the zoo never gave him any partners, since it is well known that chimps need social contact! This is definitely animal cruelty to me, but I'm really glad that the zoo finally gave him another chimp. The way he behaves shows how much he missed communicating and socializing with other monkeys and partners.

  • I would love to be a zookeeper or part of the save the chimps organization! I love animals and getting to interact with them. I think that I would definitely make it a priority to make sure that every chimp/monkey/etc would have at least one more friend.
