Real life “Grinch Cave”

Dr. Seuss Enterprises teamed up with Vacasa, a vacation rental company, to build an exact copy of the infamous cave from “Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” The cave consists of 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, a music room, and a library. This rental can also hold a maximum of 4 guests. It is located in Boulder, Utah, and it is recommended by Vacasa that you “make sure you have a car that’s at least a crossover or larger for the trail (and shallow creek crossing) leading up Mt. Crumpit”. Besides being hard to get to, this rental also doesn’t have internet, cable, or a/c. In addition, you also have to bring your own food and drinks for your whole stay.

Although I think that it might be fun to stay here, especially with the cheap rate of $19.57 a night, a tribute to the year the book was published, I think that I would get bored easily considering that there’s barley any service and no internet or cable. I think that they could have made a game room instead of a music room and it would be more appealing. However, even if you did want to book a vacation here, it is fully booked until June/July 2023.

Would you stay here?

What do you think about the location and amenities?

  • I like the topic Maci! Very timely! I do think your summary is brief overall and could have been expanded.

  • I think it would be super cool to stay in the real life Grinch Cave. I enjoy the movie The Grinch and think it is interesting that you can stay in a real one. I don't think the service and reception wouldn't be a deal breaker. I can live without my phone for a few days and still have fun.

  • I would definitely stay in the cave, it sounds like a fun experience. Although it's a little sketchy for how cheap it is. It's also from a movie and that would be so cool to see, so in the end I think I would take the chance and stay.

  • I think it would be a fun experience to stay there and it's cheap, which is better than most places, so I would stay/visit with some friends. It would also be pretty cool because it's based on a great movie that almost everyone has seen or heard of. I think the location of the cave makes sense because of how it was viewed in the movie which is pretty cool.

  • I would stay there because it would be a great experience to stay ina cave not to mention one based off of one of the most well known christmas books out there the fact that it is in a cave perfectI like that it does not have a T.V because it addes to the experience of living in a lonly cave this is the only time that I can say that as a good thing this sounds real fun for so cheap

  • I personally think it is kind of weird I think it would be a little weird to stay but it is cheap so I think I would. But I think they need to make more than just a music room they need more entertainment for people they need something like a movie room or something.

    • I agree, they need to add more entertainment

  • I think I would stay here if they added some other form of entertainment rather then a music room. For instnece if they added cable or wifi or a game room like you said with a pool table or something like that I think it would make it much better. I think that the location makes sense on a mountain sense his cave is in a mountain.

    • I agree, if they added some other forms of entertainment it would be a lot more fun.

  • I feel that it would be interesting to stay at so yes and its cheap which is kinda like a set back to think if you should or not and the location is gorgeous and as long as it has a bedroom and a bathroom i think it would be fine
