Random Shooting in Michigan 6 Dead

On Saturday night Jason Dalton, age 45, killed 6 people and injuring 2 in Kalamazoo Michigan. Married and father of two, worked as and Uber driver. Jason passed a background check, he had no criminal record only 5 traffic violations. The rampage started at about 6 p.m. and finally arrested at about 12:40 a.m. Jason didn’t resist arrest when approached and weapons were found in his vehicle.

1. Why do you think he did this?

2. Do you think they need to be stricter on background checks?

  • A little brief on the summary. You did reply a lot but it was all done on the same day. I stress to go in three days.

  • I don't know why he did this. Probably something with his mentality. To me it almost sounds like he wanted to be arrested. I think they should do more background checks to get rid of criminals having guns in the first place. But, I also don't think it will help because like you said this guy only had traffic violations, so how could they possibly know he would do this? So I think they would help but still tragic things would still happen.

  • I'm not sure way he did this. People should never have a reason to do something this bad. I don't think better background checks will help. People can become crazy in a second you can't tell before hand by look deeper than hospital record and criminal records.

  • I think that he did go on a rampage because he must of been mentally not okay. And I think that they do need to be more strict with background checks and maybe do some kind of psychiatric test just to make sure they are mentally stable to do there job.

    • I agree they need to check if there is a mental problem, and I also agree that he was probrobly unstable and went through something horrific.

  • The only reason I think he did this was because he just lost it. He just became crazy and thought that he should do it. I dont know if they should make them more strict because I'm imagining that they are already strict enough.

    • I think they should test these guys more than once, maybe once a month or something like that. And I agree that he just lost it.

  • For some people it takes just one thing to set them over the edge. It could of been for the most stupid reason or just no reason at all. Being stricter on background checks won't stop shootings because people can pass them but still go on a killing rampage. Also if someone really wanted to go shooting people they can go get a gun illegally be stricter on background checks will not stop killings.

    • I think they should be able to do background checks once a month. And maybe ask the customers what they think of the driver and have them report weird behavior.

  • Some people just lose it. This is a crazy world we are growing up in. I think background checks must be somewhat strict. Its not guns that kill people, its the people themselves.
