As I am playing music over the years, it got me thinking of the absolute quintessential albums/cd's of all time. These are the albums/cd's that changed the course of music history and are still as good today as they were when they were released. Everyone should either own or at least be familiar with these albums.
Please share albums/cd's that you feel fit this criteria. They can't be greatest hits albums/cd's as that would be unfair. The must be original albums. I'll start with two:
Thriller came out in 1982 and is my favorite album of all time. It changed the course of music forever(to take a line from the "America: The Story of Us" series). From his moonwalk to his videos, everything about this album was awesome.
U2's The Joshua Tree came out in 1987 and just blew me away at the time. Most songs were stellar and made U2 on of the most popular bands even today. The song "With or Without You" is just a great song that stands out in my opinion.
I would guess most of you are familiar with Thriller but maybe not The Joshua Tree so much. Check it out on Youtube or iTunes!

I would say Hysteria album by Def Leppard. It came out on August 3, 1987. I still think that album is one of the best of all time. I still listen to it to this day.
Come on Over by Shaina Twain.
This album was released in 1997 and changed the look and sound of country music "Forever and for Always". She was one of the first country artists to do pop/country crossovers and it gave a her a huge career.
Well, I'd have to say Taylor Swift's album Fearless is a music changer in country music, since it has won the most awards in country music history :)
The Beatles changed music in the United States and throughout the world. They were from England, but impacted the United States music. I believe that everyone can make a list of their favorite Beatle songs. My list would consist of Let It Be, Come Together, Hey Jude, Twist and Shout, Here Comes the Sun, All You Need is Love, Yellow Submarine, and I Want to Hold Your Hand. I think every album they made is a album that should be know or heard of by everyone.
I would have to say the album with the Eye Of The Tiger by Suriver because it is an upbeat song and inspires people to do something.
any song of bon jovi is good but i think that survivor is better than them.
Any album buy Survivor because it has the best song ever Eye of the Tiger. which is used in Rocky the best boxing movie ever.
Elvis Presley- Blue Suede Shoes, because a lot of people were inspired with his music and during his time he was a big hit.
Aerosmith I don't want to miss a Thing. Album is Armageddon.
Im gonna add PINK FLOYD's Dark Side of the Moon. I like all of the songs in this album
