A prisoner came to the rescue of a detention officer when he was suddenly attacked by another inmate. Maret who is 24 years old lashed out and attacked the guard. Robert Hammock a second inmate who was nearby when the attack happened and made his way over to intervene when Maret had his back turned.
Hammock strangled him with a giant bear hug stopping him immediately. Officers then ran in to assist with bringing Maret to the ground. Nobody was reported injured.
Captain Kevin Woodward from the Payne County Sheriff’s Office claims there aren’t as many guards due to budget cuts. Maret is now safely behind bars he now faced the additional charge of assault on an officer and could be incarcerated for five years.
I think that there are people still willing to do good in this world and help out those who need help. Personally I would help the guard because the guard needed help and you would have to decide am I going to watch this and stand by or take a stand and help the guard.
Questions-
Why do you think that the prisoner took the time to help the guard
Would you have done the same thing or let it happen

Be sure to capitalize words in your title. Your story is also from August which is a bit old and I also feel that it should be summarized better.
I think he helped the guard because he knew that it was the right thing to do or maybe he thought it would help him to become a better person. I would have done the same thing because it is the right thing to do and even though I would be in prison doesn't mean I can't still be a good person and help someone when they are in need.
I think the prisoner took the time to help the guard because he believed it was the right thing to do and saw a situation with someone in need. Although he may be in jail for doing bad things, everyone is still capable of doing good. I definitely would've helped in this situation because it's the right thing to do!
I think he did it because he knew it was right to save the guard.
I would like to think I would have done the same in the sort of situation and saved the guard.
I think the prisoner did it because even though he was a prisoner he still knows right from wrong and he knew that what the other prisoner was doing wasn't right so he acted out. I would have also helped the guard because its the right thing to do and doing the right thing is probably a really good idea if your in prison.

I think this guard did exactly what you explained in the last paragraph, he could just stand by and let this happen so he took action to help. I would have done the same hoping maybe I'd show good behavior and maybe get rewarded.
yeah I think he just wanted to do what was right
I would've intervened, my conscious would get the best of me. I couldn't just sit there and watch a criminal attack or even kill a man of justice and the law. as for why the prisoner helped perhaps he thought it would help his sentence, or maybe just like me he couldn't live with himself knowing he didn't help if he didn't.
