President Trump Holds First Large Indoor Rally in 3 Months

After the president's last rally in Tulsa, which brought a surge in coronaivurs cases, he has decided to host another presidential rally. The rally, being held in Nevada, has filled a stadium with thousands of supporters. According to the city of Henderson, where the rally is being held, the event violates the state's current regulations. "Specifically, gatherings of more than 50 people in a private or public setting is prohibited," stated the City of Henderson spokeswoman. Currently the state has over 73,000 cases and 1,400 deaths making it the 27th highest state for the spread. That number could be higher after the rally. The event is not enforcing masks or social distancing, which most would say is very unsafe. Many people in the state of Nevada and across the nation are concerned about the large numbers of people attending the event. Especially since the US is number one for the virus and has just reached a whopping 200,000 deaths. Click here to read more

Do you think the president is being irresponsible for holding a rally in such a bad time?

I personally think the president is being responsible because experts are saying we should do anything to slow the spread and the president is doing the complete opposite. He could at least enforce a mask mandate at his rallies.

What do you think will happen now that the administration has broken the state's regulations?

I'm sure what will happen is that the adminstration will be fined by the state for violation of their regulations. It could also become a lawsuit if cases surge in the state.

  • Mason,

While this would be perfect for what I was looking for last year, this year I am looking for either a story on World History or a hot take. Either way, I am looking for much more of your voice within your summary and not just a summary of the story.

  • I think President Trump should respect the local government. The fact that they say you are not allowed to have more than 50 people at a gathering and he did not respect that seems rude to me. I think it is irresponsible of him especially because there wasn't any social distancing or mask rules applied at this occasion. He is supposed to be an example and no one is going to listen to the covid - 19 rules if our president doesn't.

    • I have to agree with you. As president he should be respecting local government's decisions. It seems rude to me also as if he just doesn't care what anyone else says and that he'll do things his way. He is supposed to set an example not only for his supporters, but for the American people.

  • The fact that the president is feuling the pandemic fire with large amounts of people like this is irresponsible and he is definitely not showing a good message for the American people. Although the people there should definitely already know that they should wear masks to rallies like that anyways. Trump should mention that they need to wear masks anyways and not put politics over the safety of the American people.

    • I like how you used the term "fueling the pandmeic fire" because he really is just adding gasoline to an already burning fire in our country. It's totally irresponsible. His supporters should know to wear masks but he tells them that the pandemic is all a hoax which leads them to believe him and not listen to the health officials.

  • President Trump should put the example and not hold any large gatherings of people. He is holding a rally in the middle of a pandemic endengering the lives of people by not enforcing masks or social distancing. Yet I don't think is completly his fault, its also the fault of the people who signed up for a high risk event.

    • I agree with you. He should be setting a good examples for others but he chose not to. He has endangered the lives of people and now virus cases are up. I see where you're coming from about how its the fault of the people who signed up but not everyone makes good decisions. There were people smart enough to wear a mask but most didn't.

  • I don't think its trumps fault at all because they people weren't forced to go to it. It was completely up to the people if they wanted to go to the rally. If they wanted to wear a mask they could have it was completely up to the people who went. I personally don't think that anything will happen because we will have to face this at some point so why just keep pushing it back? This virus will forever be around. It will just be like the flu and we don't see people doing all this stuff for the flu.

    • I have to agree to disagree with you. Yes, its their fault for going to his rally but the president should be trying to set a good example for the American people. A lot of his "followers" do whatever he says. for instance, he told his supporters not to wear masks because of the virus hoax, so they now don't wear masks.

  • I think it is half Trump's fault and half the people who showed up. I think it would be half Trump's fault for holding the rally but the people that went could also control if they showed up to the rally or not. I think they will be fined by the state for what happened.
