There is currently one person in custody after an explosion occurred during the rush of Monday morning near New York City's Port Authority. The NYPD reported that mass chaos occurred and multiple subway lines were halted. Police are investigating reports of an explosion near 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue. The origin of the explosion is unknown. Commuters have been advised to expect delays because of the police activity in the area. Port Authority is the largest bus terminal in the U.S.
Questions:
1) Why do you think someone set off a bomb in Port Authority?
It's hard to tell why someone would want to set off a bomb in Port Authority and cause that much chaos and commotion, but someone may have done it because they wanted to get everyone's attention by doing something so big.
2) If you were a officer for the NYPD, how would you have reacted to the explosion?
I would have been terrified and very worried about another bomb possibly going off, but I would be focused on helping survivors.

If I was an officer I would have been very scared and confused at how somebody caused such an explosion in such a busy place without drawing anyone's attention. I would also be very scared.
I dont know why somebody would set off a bomb in Port Authority, but it was probably just to cause fear and chaos within the city. It is crazy that they arent able to identify the origin.
I would assume that this terrible and extremely dangerous attack was terror driven but no one can know for sure why the attacker did what he did. If I was a NYPD officer I would try to get to the scene as fast as I could and help who I could.
1. I think they did it because they wanted to cause as much chaos as possible and hurt many people.
2. I would keep focused and try to save lives.
I would have reacted to the explosion like a responsible officer. I would be concerned about the possibility of a second bomb and helping move things along efficiently to reduce the chaos and upset of the situation.
If someone was looking to cause a significant upset, a busy area like this would be ideal. Whoever set off the bomb was looking to get a lot of attention for the impact, so setting it off in Port Authority was figured to be the exemplary move.
There is no correct answer to this because nobody completely understands why anyone would set off a bomb in Port Authority except if they were trying to send a message. If I were an officer of the NYPD then I would most likely jump to the ground until I knew that no more bombs were gonna go off, then take care of the people that survived.
i have no idea why someone would set off a bomb at port authority but there obviously isnt any good eason behind the explosions. i honestly probaably wouldnt be all that scared because stuff doesnt scare me all that easily unless its directly affecting me.
I think that the only reason someone would do something like this is if they had a mental illness or were part of a terrorist group. If I was an officer I would get to the scene as fast as I can so I can help as many people as possible.
If they were mentally ill or had a brain injury or part of a terrorist attack or it couldve been and accident something might have went wrong. If i was an officer and the explosion already happened theres nothing i can really do besides aid the ill and injured and investigate the scene.
