David L. Poulson, the priest of Eerie Pennsylvania was sentenced 2.5-14 years in the Pennsylvanian prison for sexually abusing children. He is just one of 300 priests that have been accused of sexual crimes since 1947 from the state of Pennsylvania. He was reported repeatedly for asualting a little boy that went to the church also a boy at a hunting cabin David owned with a friend. He was a priest for almost 4 decades and now can no longer be one. Last year in October David pleaded guily to two felony sexual abuse charges along with corruption of minors and endangering children. As part of this plea he has to seek laicization which means it removes a priest from priesthood. Pope Francis approved of his absence with rules, he can no longer be a priest and be in the holy sacraments.
In your opinion would you have done what the Pope did, or would you do something more extreme?
I would have done something more extreme, because church is a safe place people can go to and feel comfortable. You shouldn't feel scared or uncomfortable especially your children.
How long do you think David should've been sentenced to jail?
I would say longer than 14 years, he was abusing young children that should be guided by him through faith but instead they were scared of him.

Well done Jordan! Be sure to capitalize all key words in your title.
1. i mean really there isnt much more the pope could have done as the pope doesnt exactly hold a lot of power.
2. honestly i dont know as i cant find an average term length for sexual abuse or pedophilia but 14 years sounds like a plenty long sentence
I agree the Pope couldn't do much more now that I think about it without disrespecting the Catholic church. I think 10-14 years is enough but I don't think it should be any shorter he abused little inocent children that will live with that the rest of their lives.
1. I think what the Pope did was fine. He probably knows what he's doing because he's delt with the sort of thing before. Being a priest was also this guy's whole life so taking that away from him is a big deal.
2. He should be in jail for at least 10 years. He abused a child which isn't something to look over.
Because of this priests poor actions he will affect many people's lives not just his. This is also bad for the catholic church, in my honst opionion I think this guy deserves 15-20 years in jail for this. It's terrible that he goes up and tells people not to sin and to get to heaven, yet does the exact opposite.
It's honestly disgusting how people can preach about holiness and righteousness and deeming whether you can get into heaven or hell and then turn around and do the exact thing he tells others not to do. I can't even put into words how much I'm disgusted by this priest. Not only is he harassing CHILDREN but he's doing it in a church while knowing his position in his church.
This is a very good answer and I couldn't agree more the priest needs to practice what he preaches because it's sick that he can tell people not to do something and turn around and do the exact same thing. For the children it will now affect their whole life because of his sick actions.
I definitely would have done atleast what he did. Sexual abuse is just a cruel and dumb thing to do. It is even worse when they are doing it to children that are defenseless. I think that he most likely deserves more time in jail than what he is being given.
I agree it's a very bad thing to sexually assualt especially little kids that think church is a safe place to go and talk to God. I think he deserves at least 20 years for his serious actions that will probably affect those children the rest of their lives.
I would have done something way more extreme because like what you stated in your answer, churches are supposed to be a safe place for families and their children to come to worship and be relieved from their burdens, not just create more. David should have a longer jail sentence, perhaps 20 years at the minimum. I strongly agree with your second answer.
