People are killing animals of all kinds illegally more and more everyday. This is called poaching. There are big stories with the news about African elephants. In the beginning of the 20th century there were up to 10 million of these elephants. Now there is half a million. The elephants are losing their lives due to poachers and loss of habitats. In 2011 25,000 elephants died. Before we know it this animal could become extinct. Its not just elephants people are poaching every animal all over the world. Some people with illegally shoot a bear get its gull bladder, leave the rest to rot and sell it to the Chinese. I do not like poachers at all. Its not fair to the animals, or to the people doing the right kind of hunting. What do you guys think about the poaching situation?

I think it needs to be stopped. It is such a cruel act, and seems to have grown into such a large problem today. Society is also to blame for all of these animals becoming extinct. We are the ones causing the pollution problems which cause the environmental issues for the animals. Also, we are the ones cutting down forests to make more businesses and this gets rid of all the animals homes. Even though poaching is a major part of animal extinction, so are all of us.
Yes poaching is terrible everywhere. It is very sad to hear stories about it. I wish it could be stopped.
Poaching in the US is a crime. I think there should be bigger penalties. If we continue these trends, all animals will be extinct.
Poachers need to be disciplined for what they do because it is bad, it is a crime. And it is harsh to the animals.
I think that it is terrible and hopefully it will start to slow down because we can't have species go extinct it wouldn't be good for anyone at all. I think poachers should spend there entire life in jail because the things they do are horrible.
Poaching is sad and cruel. I think that if you want to hunt so badly you should do it the right. Elephants are sad, but we have poaching problems here in Iowa too. It is a big problem all around the world.

Poaching makes any kind of hunter a bad person because people tend to automatically think that that is what hunters do but its not. It is completely different. This is a serious problem because some of those animals are important in the eco-system and if one species goes extinct many others could too.
Poaching is becoming more serious every year. It needs to stop! What they are doing is very wrong and very mean to the animals! Animals will become instinct if it doesn't come to a stop soon.
