I watched a video on all of the debris that is floating around in the ocean. It talked about all of the research having to do with plastic and other waste in the ocean. In the Indian Ocean alone there is an estimated 20 million tons of plastic floating around. This is bad for the animals that have to live in the ocean. It also talks about how some of the bigger pieces show up on satellite and this is confusing people who are looking for items in the ocean like the most recent Malaysian plane that has gone missing. Peoples hopes have been high when hearing about found debris and then when they find out it was just a piece of plastic they have been given false hope.
The ocean is downhill from everything, but what do you think should be done to get the current plastic out of the oceans? what do you think can be done to prevent more from entering?

If people were smarter and used a trash can, more trash would stay out of the ocean. If we started now our future wouldn't look so bad in this situation.
People think think that one bottle thrown in the water won't hurt anything, but with everyone doing that this is what occurs because of that.
People just need to throw their trash away. I don't think people know how much harm it is every time they litter.
we can take all of the plastic and melt it into one giant cube and then set it in the dumb somewhere. This way it can't get into the ocean or any other place that we don't want it to be
I think that some countries should team up in trying to make a cleaner planet. Like once a year they could go out on boats and collect trash.
This isn't good for animals like you said and i think they need to take it into serious consideration to keep that kind of stuff out of the ocean.
I think people should stop being so lazy, and recycle and throw things away then littering. I don't know what they would have to do but if they do anything it would take a while to get it all cleared away.
If people would just throw their stuff away and not throw it on the ground. There are so many ways to prevent this! People just have to comply.
There are many ways to prevent it. I think we just need to find an effective way to do so!
