Pizza Hero?

Shortly after a manager at a Pizza Hut franchise in Elkhart, Indiana, announced that he was fired for refusing to open on Thanksgiving Day, the company is offering him his job back.Tony Rohr, 28, had worked for the chain for more than 10 years. When he refused to open on Thanksgiving Day this year and force his employees to work, he says, he was told to write a letter of resignation. Instead, he wrote one explaining why the store should remain closed.

What do you think about this? Would you have done the same thing as him?

  • Good job but be sure to include a link to the actual article.

  • I think I would have done the same thing as him. Some only get to spend time with their loved ones on special holidays like Thanksgiving. To take away their right to enjoy one day off is not fair. Although, I know several businesses that stay open on holidays I still think it is all wrong. I think it was a very brave act for this man to stand up for what he believed in and took whatever punishment followed it. I think more people need to be like this man.

  • I think this person did what was right. He and everyone else should be with their family not at pizza hut.

  • I think that its terrible that people can't be at home celebrating with their families on holidays!

  • I agree with him no one should have to work on thanksgiving and i think i would have done the same thing. It is probably a good thing that he did write the letter to the company because if he feels that way they should know that.

  • Wow, thats great. An employee is standing up for his rights. It's great to see how amazing it is when people do what's right by standing up for their rights.

  • I think he did the right thing. I don't think people should be forced to work on Thanksgiving Day. They should be at home with their families celebrating and eating good meals. I think I might have done the same thing.

    • I wouldn't want my job back either.

  • This is cool. Why would someone demand to open on Thanksgiving Day? That's just wrong. Yes, I would have done the same thing.

    • The people who demand to be open just want money and probably don't care if their employees are home or not.
