Pineapple on Pizza?

Do you eat pineapple on pizza?  Let's dig in to know the statistics and history of it

Despite being called the Hawaiian pizza it is actually first created in Canada in 1962. Sam Panopoulos, the creator of the pizza, thought to add canned pineapple to his pizza, not knowing that it would become a huge success. Why did it become a success? Well, no one really knows for sure, but they think that it reminded people of the tiki craze that happened in 1959. The name Hawaiian come into play when Sam Panopoulos saw on the can that it said Hawaiian.

82% of people surveyed by YouGov said that they actually like pineapple on pizza, while 29% said that they hated the idea. 53% liked the idea of fruit being on pizza in general, and 12% said that they disliked it.  Another Survey said given by Slice, 54% of people didn't like the idea of pineapple being on pizza, While 46% thought it was a good idea. At least the idea of pineapple being on Pizza was more acceptable than strawberries!

You may be wondering, why do people like pineapple on pizza, and a way that it could be considered " acceptable". One reason is the sweet and saltiness balance. The sweetness of the pineapple and the saltiness of the ham, sauce, and cheese balance each other out. On the flip side, some people say that it is just too juicy and they don't like the sweetness with the pizza.

Personally, I really like Pineapple on pizza and so does my sister, but my brother, on the other hand, hates the texture. Whatever you pick, that is up to you and that is your preference.

    • Chicken Bacon Ranch is pretty good too, Have you ever tried broccoli on pizza though?

  • I don't like pineapple on pizza. I think there are endless other toppings that are better than pineapple. Personally, my favorite kind of pizza is chicken bacon ranch because it has the perfect amount of spice. I will eat poneapple on pizza if it is the only option, but I definitely wouldn't pick it.

    • That is probably one of the best things about pizza, there are endless possibilities!

  • I hate pineapple on pizza. People need to stop with this discussing topping for pizza. I love pineapple but it does not belong on pizza. My favorite topping is either pepperoni or bacon. I work at the bowling alley so when I make myself a pizza I always love to make a CBR or a taco pizza because they are by far the best.

    • Chicken Bacon Ranch, is a pretty good pizza, and I wouldn't mind getting it no problem

  • I don't really care about pineapple on pizza. Its not my choice of toppings on pizza, I'll only eat it if I have to. I wouldn't order it to eat on a normal basis. I would usually eat hamburger or pepperoni. Pineapple give a sweet taste to the pizza when you bite into it and I'm not really for that.

    • I've noticed a lot of people don't like the sweetness of it, and that's ok, we are all unique, We don't really order it on a normal basis,  but when we do, We normally get half a pizza for me and my sister and the other half for my brother.

  • i really dont think that pinnaple is supposed to be on pizza it really shoudnt be its not meant to be on there and it changes the tase completly with the sweetness of the pineapple

    • While it does change the taste of it, I personally, like the change, and I understand that no one is the same therefore we all have our own opinions

  • I hate pineapple on pizza, I believe it ruins the whole pizza. When my siblings want Pineapple on pizza all the time, and when I take my half I can taste the pineapple faintly and it sometimes can ruin my whole side of the pizza.
