Do you eat pineapple on pizza? Let's dig in to know the statistics and history of it
Despite being called the Hawaiian pizza it is actually first created in Canada in 1962. Sam Panopoulos, the creator of the pizza, thought to add canned pineapple to his pizza, not knowing that it would become a huge success. Why did it become a success? Well, no one really knows for sure, but they think that it reminded people of the tiki craze that happened in 1959. The name Hawaiian come into play when Sam Panopoulos saw on the can that it said Hawaiian.
82% of people surveyed by YouGov said that they actually like pineapple on pizza, while 29% said that they hated the idea. 53% liked the idea of fruit being on pizza in general, and 12% said that they disliked it. Another Survey said given by Slice, 54% of people didn't like the idea of pineapple being on pizza, While 46% thought it was a good idea. At least the idea of pineapple being on Pizza was more acceptable than strawberries!
You may be wondering, why do people like pineapple on pizza, and a way that it could be considered " acceptable". One reason is the sweet and saltiness balance. The sweetness of the pineapple and the saltiness of the ham, sauce, and cheese balance each other out. On the flip side, some people say that it is just too juicy and they don't like the sweetness with the pizza.
Personally, I really like Pineapple on pizza and so does my sister, but my brother, on the other hand, hates the texture. Whatever you pick, that is up to you and that is your preference.

I have never tried pineapple on pizza because the thought of it kind of grosses me out. I like pineapple but the texture of it on pizza sounds like they shouldn't go together. I don't like many kids of pizza but I do like pepperoni and chicken, bacon, and ranch pizza.
I actually did some reading up on the ranch with pizza, and only about 33% of people like ranch on there own pizzas, personally I like ranch on pizza.
I personally think that pineapple being on pizza really shouldn't be a debate because people have their own opinions on it. I think pineapple on pizza is very gross and weird combined together, but if a person likes it on theirs I'm not one to judge them.
I agree that it shouldn't become a huge debate, for example, Wheels and Doors, sometimes people can get out of hand with it.
I definetly think that pineapple should be on pizza because it adds flavor too the pizza and can enhance the taste of the pizza. I eat pineapple pizza and have never thought that it should not be on their. I would recomend pineapple pizza to anyone who already likes pizza.
I totally agree with you! I love pineapple on my pizza, and as much as I have tried to tell my friends to try it, they still say no, but that's okay, it only comes up every once and a while, and then it becomes a big debate
I used to love pineapple on pizza when I was younger. I haven't had pineapple pizza in a hot minute. It's a weird combination and people do have mixed feelings. I don't mind it, I like veggies on my pizza the most though.
Some people say that broccoli on pizza is bad, but if it is with the right stuff it shouldn't taste too bad. I mean, I haven't tried it but you can make anything good with the right ingredients
I think pineapple on pizza is weird and don't like it. My parents like it on their pizza and I have tried it many times trying to like it. My favorite pizza topping is probably just cheese. It's hard to screw up a plain cheese pizza.
That is true, plain cheese pizza can be pretty hard to mess up, but I'm sure that it has happened
