Pineapple on Pizza?

Do you eat pineapple on pizza?  Let's dig in to know the statistics and history of it

Despite being called the Hawaiian pizza it is actually first created in Canada in 1962. Sam Panopoulos, the creator of the pizza, thought to add canned pineapple to his pizza, not knowing that it would become a huge success. Why did it become a success? Well, no one really knows for sure, but they think that it reminded people of the tiki craze that happened in 1959. The name Hawaiian come into play when Sam Panopoulos saw on the can that it said Hawaiian.

82% of people surveyed by YouGov said that they actually like pineapple on pizza, while 29% said that they hated the idea. 53% liked the idea of fruit being on pizza in general, and 12% said that they disliked it.  Another Survey said given by Slice, 54% of people didn't like the idea of pineapple being on pizza, While 46% thought it was a good idea. At least the idea of pineapple being on Pizza was more acceptable than strawberries!

You may be wondering, why do people like pineapple on pizza, and a way that it could be considered " acceptable". One reason is the sweet and saltiness balance. The sweetness of the pineapple and the saltiness of the ham, sauce, and cheese balance each other out. On the flip side, some people say that it is just too juicy and they don't like the sweetness with the pizza.

Personally, I really like Pineapple on pizza and so does my sister, but my brother, on the other hand, hates the texture. Whatever you pick, that is up to you and that is your preference.

  • I do not rally like pizza in general, but I think that pineapple actually tastes good on pizza. I mean why not? There is a lot of other stuff on Pizzas, so why not pineapples. Pineapple was my favourite kind of pizza for years, but now it is jalapeno I would say.

    • I, personally, have never had jalapeno pizza before, what else is on it and what makes you like it so much?

  • I personally do not like pineapple on pizza because I have always stuck with the regular topping like pepperoni, sausage, etc. I think that any type of fruit should not be on pizza because it just seems weird. I think that by putting pineapple on pizza it just ruins the whole thing and I would rather stick to having regular old pizza.

    • I think that most people that are commenting on here feel the same way, personally, I don't feel that way but everyone has an opinion and you can;t really change that

  • I personally don't like pineapple on pizza as it has a wierd texture and in my opinion, a wierd taste. However, everyone has their own opinions and I'm not going to judge them just because they do or don't like pineapple on pizza. My favorite pizza topping is pepperoni.

    • I have found that many people really like pepperoni on their pizza, personally, I don't, but as you said, it's my own opinion, and I'm not going to judge them.

  • Growing up whenever my family would order pizza, there was always Hawaiian pizza on the table. I guess because I started to eat it as a child and got used to the taste, I don't mind having pineapple on my pizza. That being said, I wouldn't go out of my way to just eat Hawaiian, but if it's is there, I probably would eat it. I personally prefer pepperoni pizza.

    • Personally, we would always have pineapple on our pizza, but it would be by request by me. I like pineapple on my pizza, but my brother dislikes the texture by a lot.

  • I do like pineapple on pizza, and I believe that it gives a tang to the pizza. At the same time your numbers aren't adding up, 82% liked pineapple on pizza, whereas 29% hate the idea of it on there. 82+29 = 111%.  Which makes no sense. My favorite pizza topping would be Hamburger.

    • The reason why my numbers aren't adding up, is they asked them all the individual questions, I mean, you can ask some people, if they think that they would like it, or if they would think that they wouldn't like the idea, just because you like it doesn't mean that you like the idea of it. For example, Someone may like sour cream on there nachos, but they may not like the idea of having sour cream on their nachos
