"Photo Doggies for Anthony"

Anthony Lyon, a 16-year-old boy, is undergoing chemotherapy for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in the hospital currently. Anthony only gets to see his dog, or any dog in particular, only once this week because of his hospitalization. Just to help make him smile, a family friend created a Facebook page titled "Photo Doggies for Anthony," so he can see any dog at any time. So far, the page has over a half million pictures of random pooches from all over the world! Plus a half million wishes to be well.

How do you think the family will respond to this type of response from all over the world? Would you send in a picture of your puppy?

  • Good story and well done overall even though you could have replied a few more times to student comments.

  • I think the family would be very grateful for all the support people send to them and their son. It probably makes them happy to see  how big the Facebook page has become for Anthony. I would send a picture of my dog and be happy to look at all kinds of dogs all over the world.

  • I think that this a great thing that people are doing. It will really make Anthony happy when he can get on and see lots of different dogs. I would love to join the community and put a picture of each of my dogs.

  • i think the the parent would respond with a thank you for all those who posted pictures for their son. I would consider putting a picture on the page

    • How are they going to respond to 500,000 people?

  • They will be grateful and respond with immense happiness. I would totally send a picture of my precious pooch to Anthony, he needs to keep his courage and hope up.

  • This is a great and unique story! I think it will make this family feel very good about how much people have actually sent photos because of their child in the hospital. I would send in a picture of my puppy because if this was my child and this is what they wanted, I would want people to respond to it just like this..

  • I think it's a great idea from this family friend to create this family page! The family will probably respond really thankful, even if it's no big deal for everybody who sends a picture, it's a big deal for Anthony and that's what matters. I would send a picture, too, just because I knew I could make somebody happy.

  • I would feel that there is still hope in society because sometimes you feel like no one cares about you when something bad happens to you or your family, but hearing this would make me feel completely opposite of that. It's great to know that people care about others even if they've never seen you or even heard of you, yet they want to feel better and put a smile on your face. I would definitely send a picture of my dog, hopping that they picture would put a big smile on his face as much as it does mine.

    • So how would you respond? Would you post just something back on Facebook or would you make it more public somehow?
