The Paris Zoological Park said visitors have been evacauted from the popular attraction after members of its baboon population escaped from their enclosure.
Initially, approximately 50 baboons were reported to have escaped, according to The Guardian. They were congregating around the centerpiece of the zoo, known as the Grand Rocher, or "Big Rock." It's unclear whether the baboons were marking their territory or were simply checking out the rest of their digs.
Recent reports have said that all but four of the baboons have been captured.
Zoo spokesman said all four have been located in a closed area. Zoo employees plan to use sedative arrows to capture them and put them back with the rest of the group of 50 baboons.
Paris police intervened Friday to help secure and evacuate the zoo, which will remain temporarily closed until the end of the incident. Zoo officials cautioned that the public was evacuated because the creatures are "stronger than us."
QUESTIONS:
1. How do you think you would react if you were in this situation been one of the visitors , and knowing that this type of animal can be dangerous while they are loose without any protection?
2. If you saw the news from your home, would you take any preventive measure? If so, explain what and if it does not explain why you do not care.
Replies
Good summary but you didn't do any replies which is worth 20 points.
1. If there were baboons running wild in the zoo, I would immeadiately run for one of the entrances to leave the zoo. I wouldn't want to get injured or even killed by one of them.
2. If I lived far enought from the zoo I wouldn't be too worried about the baboons breaking into my house. If I lived close too the zoo, I would make sure that I have a weapon in my reach just in case.
I would have initially thought that the baboons being free was some part of the zoo's plan to entertain their guests. Once I had figured it out that obviously they would never do that, I would slowly back off and try to leave them alone. Also, I would think that the zoo needs to take a lot more precautions. If I saw this story on the news I don't think I would be too alarmed, but it would definitely stand out to me.
1. I would be very frightened if a dangours animal was just roaming around without any supervision. It could kill a lot of people and they probably have thick fur which means that they could be pretty strong.
2. I would remain calm because I know that if you try to run away, it would not work. I would probably lock my house with special locks because baboons have some human behavior.
If I was there when this happened, I would be a little scared. I would hope not to be scared and try and help, but on the inside we would all be a little scared. If I saw what happened, I would wish to help, but with all they people they allready have on the case, I would just be in the way.
I would most likely run out of the and try to get as far away from the zoo as possible. I wouldn't take any preventive measures because I don't think the animal would run away very far from where they have been for a long time they don't know anything around the place they are at.
I think I would be surprised and a little scared. I would probably leave the zoo the first chance I get. If I lived fairly close to the zoo, I might take preventive measures but not if lived away from the zoo.
I would be scared and I would try to get out the doors as soon as possible. It would be hard to keep calm in one type of those situations. I would probably check locks on doors and such things, worried they might get close.
If i was there I would be really freaked out and be the first one out of the doors once I saw the slightest view of any of the baboons. I would go home and lay low until everything was handled.
I think the only thing that I've done is to keep me away from them, and not to show any sign that makes them angry, or not going to the zoo that is easier, and less boring. I'm not sure what measures I would take to prevent, but I would take whatever was necessary.
