The pentagon is spending $130 Billion to build a robot army to reduce soldier deaths. Scientists say that it will take 20 years to perfect the building of these robots and the system to control the robots. The plan is to be able to control the robots from about 1,000 feet away.
A U.S. navy research center in San Diego has already produced a robot built to look like a human. At 4 foot high, it has a gun on its right arm and a single eye and could shoot at a target. Human involvement has proved critical in convincing military lawyers that machines can be used on the battlefield. More advanced machines which can decide whether to kill would also be legal.
How do you feel about the creation of killer robots to fight for the United States? What are your opinions about robots that are programmed to kill?
I think the government is doing a great thing to try and reduce deaths for soldiers. I find robots to be weird but robots that are programmed to kill people is just majorly creepy.

I think there are pros and cons for this story. I agree with you that robots are kind of creepy and creating ones that kill is even creepier. However, if you put them in place of someone else's life which could save lives, that's pretty good. However, this project could cost lots and lots of money, and I'm not sure if we can even afford to take that much time and money to produce the robots. Plus, if we do put these robots in battle, how long are they going to last if they get shot/hurt? Overall, I'm not quite sure whether this is a good idea or not.
I don't think they should make it, because you never know what may happen they may be programmed to kill innocent people. I wouldn't feel safe with something like this around.
I don't think they should make it because that just can make more damage to the U.S. To kill i don't think it should happen robots are meant to kill.
I think we shouldn't have them because like all movies are, they end up either turning on us or used in a harming manner. I don't feel comfortable with having killer robots in our country.
Well I dont think they should make those because then they could kill us if something bad happens. Then they could take over the world and that would be very bad.
i wouldn't want robot on the battle field that aren't controlled by humans, robot cant decide weather there a threat that something that make us special, and what if another country start making them, robot fighting robots?
That is a good point, it would be an endless cycle and no country would get anywhere except from wasting there time build more robots that will just be destroyed anyway.
I think there have been too many movies to show us what could happen in the end.
I think this will turn out to be like what a lot of movies are based off of. I don't think we need robots to do our fighting, we have done just fine with man power in previous wars.
