Due to widespread reports of people losing limbs or dying painful deaths because of crashes where highway guardrails have pierced vehicles. Federal officials are now conducting a test to see how safe the guardrails really are in crashes. The problem is whether the end of the guardrails can absorb the impact of a head on crash at 65 mph which is what they are designed to do.
Question: Do you think that the guardrails are as safe as they should be? Do you think they are doing their job? Why or why not?

Good job replying! I would say that your summary is a bit too brief. Give more information within your summary.
I think they should maybe make things rubber instead of cement. I dont know what it would do but maybe it will lessen the impact.
Good thought, I don't know though if the rails were made out of rubber if they would hold people from going of the edge. That might be a test that they might have to do.
I personally don't think that the guardrails are as safe as they should or could be. I think that they are doing their job keeping cars from going into most of the spots they are supposed to protect people from going into but I think that they should continue the testing and continue to make them safer so less people have to die painful deaths.
I totally agree with you. They could make improvements to the guardrails but they are doing there job and keeping most people from going into the places that would be very bad if they went into. They need to continue the testing so less people lose limbs or die painful deaths like you said.
I think the guardrails help some. I think they could come up with something safer.Yes they are doing their job because they are keeping people from flying of the side of the road.
I agree with you. The guardrails do help some but I agree that they should make them safer.
It is better to lose a limb then fall a long ways to your death if there isn't a guardrail. I'm sure they can develop something safer, but if they can't, keeping the ones they have now is better then just getting rid of them.
I agree with you. We need them in order to keep people safe but just make them a little safer. It would be better to lose a limb then your life. I don't want to fall a long ways.
They could possibly have made them out of cement instead of steel. I think they are doing it to some extent because not many people are getting killed from it.
